We rented with the the intention of seeing Yosemite (and we did, it was great!) but this cabin itself with the lake, swimming pool, and tennis courts is a great destination spot itself! You can just hang out on the lake beaches, jump on the water trampoline, take the boat taxi, picnic for the week and there's your vacation!! We will absolutely go back! Also, anyone who is dissatisfied is overly picky, because there was nothing lacking with this cabin! When we went to the offic, they said it was just picking up after yourself. Your sign does not give you this impression. Horrible experience during our stay during Christmas 2010 Vamsi M. from Santa Clara, CA does not recommend this property. We had an horrible experience during our visit as there was no hot water sufficient on any day through out stay. We were not able to get the maintenance folks to fix the problem. Also, when I spoke with Alan the owner of the property, he said it is common for a TWO bed TWO bath Cabin not having hot water for hours after the first person take bath. I am not sure in which world it is common. Also, the owner was very rude when asked for the explanation. Also, the bath room door is not getting locked. When I informed the same to Alen, he said that I should inform to other people when I am using the bathroom which I can't lock which absolutely doesn't make sense. We couldn't take bath for almost 2 days and it delayed our overall trip to Yosemite. I would not recommend this property to anyone. The first we knew of your issue, was when you reported it to us upon your departure. Regarding the Owners? response, in his explanation he was referring to the recovery rate of the hot water heater. And its lag time with 8 adults trying to take showers each of the two mornings. The only one thing that we would change if we could would be the condition of the carpets which are filthy. We always had socks on because it looked gross. That's why only two stars for condiiton. Many items such as the blinds for the windows were broken and were being held together by duck tape. The barbeque grill was very dirty and old and the carpeting was much stained and looked dirty. We tried to vacuum the carpeting while we were there but the vacuum m cleaner was broken. The location was good but the owners need to invest some money to bring the place up to standards. Memorable & Enjoyed Family Reunion: Every one was satisfied and enjoyed the stay. After I went back to Virginia, they called me Yeu-Hsiung L. from Centreville, VA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2009 We called Tracy at the RE/Max office to tell her we would be late; she said: "No problem, I'll wait for you". The land line telephone in the house was an extremely important tool for us because there is no cell phone signal in the area. We believe it is also very important to other guests; therefore, it should be the "must check" item for the property management. I would like to make two recommendations: 1. Even with the map and instructions, we got lost the first time. A physical model or a bigger map of the resort with specially displayed "one-way" gates would help guests not to circle around the resort trying to get back into the resort. 2. We were a little bit confused about the instructions for the heater. On the guest instructions, it says "turn it off when you leave." A note besides the control unit says "set it to 60 degrees." We wanted to turn it off so we won't be charged for not following the instructions. But we set it to 60 degrees because we think the temperature may get below 32 degrees in the night. It's a great location close to Yosemite. This house is a little on the older side, there were some small things that were not in good condition (a living room lamp was broken when we got there, there was a small leak in the kitchen faucet), but the bedrooms were large, the bathrooms were clean and the kitchen completely functional. We really enjoyed the terrace and the barbeque. I plan to come back to this rental and would recommend it to friends. Loved the hummingbirds that visited the deck each morning. The cabin has a really nice open flow and the king bed was very comfortable, the queen bed was pretty hard though. We took walks each evening, swam in the community pool, soaked up the rays at the lake and ate ice cream from the snack shack. We played horse shoes and rented paddle boats too. We recommend Groveland as a great family get away close to Yosemite and all its beauty. My kids love going to the creek to explore. It's quiet and so beautiful. We enjoy eating our meals on the deck and we love playing in the snow on the driveway!! We will keep coming back!
