Disappointing Tim C. from Springfield, Illinois does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2013 The house is not completely as described and is not nearly as big as it looks in the pictures. For the cost it was not worth the money. It was the most ill-equipped house we've ever stayed in. Towels were few and flimsy, gas grill was disgustingly filthy. Rocking chairs..says 8, we had 5. Not master suites, only one was a true master suite, the others were king beds with a bathroom next to them. That is not the definition of a suite. Pictures are outdated, funny that the one you sent in the email for the survey is one of them. No movie theater seating, but two couches. The noise was beyond belief. We could hear every movement of the two girls in the bedroom above us. Every time they went to the bathroom, even opening a dresser drawer. I honestly thought someone was in our room in the middle of the night, but it was the sound from the bedroom above us. I would never recommend this home to anyone. Especially for over $400 per evening. It was clean (other than the grill), that was a plus, but I would imagine you can get a clean house for $100 per night. Only issue we had was with the heat where the upstairs was always very hot and the basement was extremely cold. Also, we had to go buy spray because of issues with wasp in the upstairs area. We had three adult couples and two preschoolers...this cabin was PERFECT for our group -- the top floor was great for the family of four.The location was an easy 10 minutes from town, a quick ride to the only grocery store in the area (way too far to get your regular supplies from Walmart). Trolley stop was also close by but the 'run times' are not very helpful during spring break week -- we saw them all over the place during the weekend when crowds were up.The cabin property was soooo nice and well maintained. Being one of the higher cabins, we could look down the hill and see a view not everyone could see -- many of the cabins have unique roof colors.We had one maintenance problem and we were taken care of within two hours. If we are lucky enough to do this again, we will CERTAINLY make our plans with ELK SPRINGS RESORTS. Apparently, they (Office) scheduled movers to replace some of the old theater-room furniture. Unfortunately, the front office did not notify us - and the movers showed up on our doorstep, just when we where getting ready to venture out. I called the front office and inquired as to why we were not notified "at all". They made some week excuses, instead of apologizing. But I charge this ineptitude to inexperienced staff who forgot the definition of customer service. In spite of this problem, the overall stay was good. Vacation gone wrong A guest from Huntsville, AL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2012 We rented 5 properties for 3 nights in the resort for a family gathering. I come to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge at least 3 times a year just to get away and this resort is similar to others I have stayed in with the exception of maintenance. Overall the cabins were "nice" BUT the furnishings and other cabin amenities desperately need to be replaced. PLEASE perform maintenance on ALL cabins. We had to go out and purchase blankets because those provided in the cabins were disgusting. I am not a picky person so if I think things should be replaced, they should. The carpets in most of the rec. rooms need to be cleaned and/or replaced. I am not talking about a few spots, but huge spills that are just grimy. These cabins are way too nice to be maintained this way. Some of the pull out beds were broken, many of the media room chairs needed repair or replacement. I took pictures of all houses before anyone stepped in so I know what they were like before our gathering. I called the front office to complain and a maintenance person was there within 24 hrs; however the beds could not be fixed and the resort did not offer to bring another. We went out and purchased air mattresses. When we arrived there were dirty dishes in the dishwasher from previous guests. There were centipedes in many of the lower level rooms. The refrigerators and bathrooms were not cleaned so we had to clean before we could even unpack. I was very disappointed in the lack of maintenance and care given to these cabins considering the amount of money & time we spent planning this vacation. I have stayed in many cabins in the area for less $'s and this was completely unacceptable...I will choose another resort for our family trip next year. The pictures on the internet site were very accurate and represented the cabin well. There was my wife and I, our two children (3 and 5), my parents, and my brother. We stayed on the top floor where there was a king bed and bath in one room and a bunk queen bed in the other (where the kids stayed). My parents (who are older) stayed on the main (walk in) level, where there is a king bed and bath. My brother stayed on the bottom floor in a king bed with bath. Everyone had privacy and slept well. Also on the bottom floor was a pool table, air hockey, sauna, and theater room. It was simply fantastic down there. The place was very clean upon our arrival...and the decor was tasteful and in great shape! We also had a wonderful view of the Mountains! If you're looking for a cabin experience in the mountains...and want to be impressed...go to Elk Springs Resort. We will definitely be back! The amenities were there but everything needed a deep cleaning. Dust everywhere, burns on countertops, matted carpet downstairs, broken theater chairs, burned out light bulbs, dead batteries in TV remotes, and hair all over the bed linens. My daughters insisted that the linens be washed before they would sleep on them. We stayed at an adjacent property two years ago without these problems. Appears that the cleaning and maintenance focus is lacking. Overall, we enjoyed our stay, but I expected better cleaniness for the price we paid - over $600/night. The theatre room and the view were awesome. It was fully equipped and very clean. We had a few minor maintenance problems that we reported and the staff assured us they would be addressed. I hope they will do that because this beauty is otherwise flawless. Hot tub, sauna, wet bar, pool table, air hockey - great amenities. My husband and I have stayed in one of Elk Springs one-bedroom cabins before as well and it was equally fabulous. The staff is helpful and courteous. There were only two problems. 1) no one could do anything about and that was the weekend wasn't long enough. We could have really stayed for a week or more if everyone had the time. 2) was something we had an issue with that could have been resolved better. We were unable to get into our cabin because the door code was not correct. We tried calling for an hour to get someone to let us into the cabin with no response. Finally we got someone to answer the phone to give us a new door code. Unfortunately, that was an hour of the vacation lost without any accomendation. The management should ensure that they have full coverage and the correct door codes prior to check-in to make sure this doesn't happen again.Other than that one issue, this was a great cabin and a great time! The location is perfect - just far enough from the craziness of Gatlinburg's main street and close to the Arts and Craft communtiy. The whole family enjoyed movies in the theatre room. We loved the rain shower in the upstairs bathroom. The view was amazing. After looking at other locations, we found Elk Springs Resort to have a nice variety of cabins and more space in between lots than other resorts. When we complained about the dishwasher, a replacement dishwasher was installed in less than 48 hours! We look forward to returning to Gatlinburg in the future and will look at Elk Springs first! There were 13 girls total and I was nervous about how the cabin would actually be, but to our great satisfaction the cabin was amazing! It is hard to satisfy 13 different women, but this cabin surely did! The amenities were great, the beds were comfortable, and there was something to do for everyone. Our first night, some people enjoyed the hot tub, others watched a movie in the home theater, while other played pool or just sat out on the deck. The management company was easy to work with and everything was true to what we saw online. We traveled with adults and children and everyone had a fantastic time. Fantastic location with stores and shopping close by but still allowed the feeling of being in the mountains. Three issues for the management company to address- the kitchen was not as well stocked as we had hoped but it was manageable, I would guess that "leave behinds" will overtime lead to a much better stocked kitchen. Second, the hot tub didn't get very warm and the front door lock was tricky each time we had to unlock the door. We had previously stayed with another cabin rental company and the last time (DEC 2007) was not a good experience. I found Elk Springs Resort on the internet. Emailed back and forth with Andy and decided to reserve our cabin - Almost Heaven. It was absolutly gorgeous. The cabin was more than spacious and fitting for our family of 7. We could have brought more people. It was huge and the view is second to none. It was like you could reach out and touch the mountains! The driveway was steep and graveled, not paved and after 5 inches of rain 2 days before our arival it was a little slippery after about 2 days of traveling. No problem tho. Andy had someone come out witha big bulldozer and re-grated the drive. No problems from then on. He also told us that at the top of the drive in the lot next to Almost Heaven, they plan on building a chapel. Would be a great view for weddings! Stayed for 2 days in December, 2008 When we read this quote in the reservation information - "It is our mission to provide you the cleanest cabin in the Smokies, so that you will become a guest for a lifetime," we had high expectations. We have stayed at several cabins in the area (usually stay 4 times a year) and have never been this disappointed in the cleanliness. We realized at midnight that the sheets on most of the beds were filthy (hair and toe nails). We had to wash the sheets before going to bed and the dryer took forever to dry. The heat in the lower level quit working, the hot tub had to be reset by management the next morning, the floors, tubs, and showers were filthy, there was food left in the freezer by previous guests, the comforters were filthy and dirt got on the sheets from them. Looked like the cabin had never been dusted. Management did send a cleaning crew, which meant we had to vacate the cabin during our 2 day stay. We did enjoy the amenities, especially the movie room.
