The jacuzzi was great,the beds were comfortable and we made good use of the outdoor grill. It was nice that the cabin is located 10 minutes from Gatlinburg,so we could come and go as we pleased and not lose a lot of time driving.These cabins are located in a resort type of setting and some are fairly close together,but the area is very wooded and feels secluded. We even saw a bear cub just up the road from our cabin! We would definitely recommend this cabin and Elk Springs Resort to anyone looking for a semi -private location near Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge,Tennessee. The entire lower level is a great place for them to hang out and have fun. The adults meanwhile can have peace and harmony upstairs. This cabin is very open and really beautiful. We cook...a lot. This cabin had beaters. I have never been in another cabin that thought to include them. We were pleased with the oven size and large fridge. We never ran out of ice and we had a party of 12. The only drawback to this cabin was that the upper master bedroom had no closet. The room itself is huge, so it was a slight inconvenience and did not detract from our weekend. I specifically asked about an indoor pool and was told that there was an indoor community pool nearby that we could use. I was somewhat surprised that the pool was the actual Gatlinburg Community Center. The pool closed at 6pm on Saturday. It doesn't open until 1pm on Sunday. This was a large inconvenience. Also, I noticed that the pool may have swim meets and other activities that might cause the general swimming to be cancelled. This cabin is ideal and really was quite a bargain. It houses large family groups and you are not tripping over each other. The porches are massive. The fireplace adds to the beauty of the family area. The beds are comfy. The gas grill is a pipeline so you can grill for the whole rowdy crew and not worry about the tank running out. There are many more wonderful features to this cabin and we would give it two thumbs up! Stayed for 3 days in February, 2012 Though we made the best of it, not having the use of the home theater until the night before we left was very disappointing! We also found a few dirty dishes, which makes you wonder what else was dirty there. Management never replied to our request for restitution for not having the HT available since that is why we booked this cabin. We also had to call for the XBox and the maintenance person working on the HT asked for us be called to be told he wasn't able to get back until the next day and we never got the call. Property Manager Response: Response from Elk Springs Resort Cabin Rentals We do prefer that guests do not attempt to manipulate the wiring of the theater system to connect game systems. Doing so can damage the unit as it happened on the second night of your stay. They can be connected but it's important to follow the instructions that posted next to the theater system. Otherwise you do run the risk of damaging the unit which did happen during your stay. We were unable to replace the system as we did not have the system we needed until the next morning. Also, we're glad we were able to provide the xbox within 15 minutes of your request as we do keep these in a central location for check out upon request. There isn't a sitting room there is a pool table in which the kids enjoyed. The kids are 11 and 16 hardly kids, however they had a great time. I advise anybody if you have a problem, call maintence no matter how small you think it is. We were not able to use the downstairs for the first four days due to it being very cold. We were not happy at all, the 11 yr old was sleeping with everyone but where he wanted to because of the coldness in the basement, however we called maintenance and there was something wrong with the heater. They fixed it within minutes. We definatley enjoyed the basesment after that and him sleeping in his own bed. There were other issues as well that were fixed. The hot tub was a enjoyable treat a couple times a day. My only complaint is the pots and pans if you plan on cooking take your own. They stick very badly.... The internet advertising was exactly what was promised - sometimes you just don't know, but our expectations were certainly met. Only negatives: clean was surface clean - there was pet hair on the furniture and other things you would see but not at first glance. Also, our washing machine did not work so no laundry service. Maintenance looked at it, but could not repair. Management did not call to address the situation. Cleaning staff left an envelope looking for a tip. There was no landline phone in the cabin and I was a bit nervous,I had read other reviews that claimed there was no cellular service. I have Verizon and received cell service my entire stay without any problems. The hot tub only could hold about 5 or 6 people max. The house was clean and location was perfect except for it did snow most the time and it is really hard to get down the hills without sliding if you dont have a four wheel drive car or chains on your tires so we got snowed in a couple of times. The only bad thing is most of our cell phones had no service up there which should be expected on around a mountain. Maybe they should of had a phone at least that we could of used in the cabin for that kind of situation. But the cabin was perfect, clean, no maintenance issues, staff was very nice. The ski resort is about 15 min and downtown is only like 10 min away which there is tons to do downtown. Would definitely stay again and would like to go again next year. They were totally trashed, beer in each hand up all night screaming and hollering. Even during the day when we went for a walk it was very intimidating. They we all out throwing broken beer bottles at each other. We felt like a prisoner to our cabin. I emailed the manager. Got no response, no sorry, no nothing. If you are looking for peace and quiet, this is not the place for you. If you like to cook, bring your own pots and pans. I'm a clean freak and There was no dustpan or vacuum. Everything was amazingly clean, and I was impressed that even the towels smelled 'like Home'...I had a hard time was that cozy ! I could really see myself living in that cabin, it was perfect. We were a little disappointed with the location of the pool table. It was in the upstairs loft, and it was too big for the space. You couldnt really use it because the pool sticks hit the walls. Im thinking maybe an air hockey or foose ball table would work better up there for that particular space. Also, not too much space outside for the puppy to potty, but luckily for me, I have a small dog and it worked out fine. I would definitely love to come up around Thanksgiving and bring the family. We had two couples, each with a pickup pulling a motorcycle trailer. We were told there was room to park both pickups w/trailers at the cabin. There was barely room for one. The parking was on a steep incline which made loading/unloading very difficult. The pics on the website do not accurately depict the layout of the outside of the property. However, if you are visiting in a car, the place was great! The cabin is very well kept and very clean. It would have been helpful to have instructions on the operation of the big screen projector and the remote controls. It took us quite a while to determine enough functions to even view a movie. The management responded quickly to our request to eradicate several wasps nests. (note 12% is not very steep, especially given what people are used to in some of the older resorts). We did have plenty of space for the vehicles and I noticed you put it in our overflow parking which was a short walk away. Sorry for the confusion, but we do have plenty of parking. If you had the small to medium size trailers they would have fit perfectly, but with all due respect, the trailer was a car trailer and was huge (25+feet), so I think you'd be hard pressed to find a spot anywhere. I'm sure the cleaning staff is in a rush between 10AM and 3PM on any given day, but I was surprised to see that lack of attention to detail in such a spendid home. Otherwise, everything was perfect!! The maintenance person told us we were in the owner's cabin and if that were really the case then he needs to visit it himself & take a look. There was pain on the deck & an area of the cabin exterior, our bedding appeared to be dirty still when we arrived so we washed ourselves & when attempting to locate a lost slipper we looked under the beds & I would wager that the cleaning staff is just sweeping everything under there by the look of it all. I would also suggest that the pool table be moved downstairs instead of on the balcony. We were unable to play because of lack of room to make many shots, and if a ball jumped the table you better watch out below! Other than that, any issues we had were addressed immediately and they are very nice. We may go back ourselves at some point, and I'd probably recommend to a friend. We found an absolutely quiet resort ,a big fully equipped cabin with jacuzzi, home cinema, AC and much more amenities only 10 min ride to Gatlinburg downtown. And all was topped by the visit of a bear at 11.00 pm while we were chatting about the day. For heavens sake the bear was as afraid as we were, when he saw us and ran away. The cabin was beautiful and well-equipped for a week's stay. Any maintenance issues that arose (e.g. pilot light not on in fireplace; sliding glass door stuck) were dealt with immediately and efficiently. My only issue was that there appeared to be paint splatters on the main deck which detracted from the beauty of the cabin and should be removed prior to the next guest visting. Not what we expected William B. from Ellisville, MS does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in May, 2009 Our stay in Blackjack was riddled with challenges. We were very misled as to the amenities and quality of the property. The home theater was rather useless and was not a theater room like the other cabins but more or less just a projector retrofit in the basement and was out of adjustment until a day before we left. There is in fact NO pool table in this cabin even tho it states all cabins have one. The hot tub provides a wonderful view of the nieghboring cabin and parking area (if your looking for privacy in a hot tub look elsewhere!) and every time a car came up the road at night you would get blinded like a deer in headlights. We had to replace 5 lightbulbs on arrival which left 2 lamps still not working. If you notice a smell when you come in just flush water down the kitchen sink for about 20 minutes. Over all it is a very nice looking cabin with a good layout but just wasnt what we expected based on our past visits to other luxury cabins. Perhaps the other cabins at Elk Springs are much nicer?
