My child has asthma, and I at least counted on having a working landline....Also, I went all the way to the mountains to stay in a subdivision of cabins. I could sit out front and look at a road, or I could sit out back and look at a road. The cabin was very nice, I just think there should be more disclosure on the site... who would think to ask if you will be neighbors with 8 other cabins? Or if you would have a working phone? If I'm going to stay in the mountains, chances are that I don't actually want to look at the side of another house through my window. There was nothing wrong with the cabin itself, it was neat, clean, and charming on the inside. Great location, but in need of TLC Michele L. from Dublin, OH recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in May, 2012 Great location--close to cafes, shops and other amenities. Not too far off the beaten path, had level parking, and located in a quiet residential area. The only disturbance was the neighbors noisy barking dog. The cabin itself was spacious enough, but furnishings were rather worn (stains on the chairs around the dining table,creaky and broken down mattress on the twin bed, the mattress on upstairs king was a bit tired as well. We did not use downstairs bed. Bed linens seemed clean and pillows were comfy. We appreciated small bars of soap in bathrooms, dish soap and dishwasher soap in the kitchen plus extra paper towels and garbage bags. We chose not to use the grill--the grate was rusty and dirty. Hot tub had grit in the bottom, but was full to the brim and very relaxing. We had our 4-yr-old with us and appreciated having a tub in the downstairs bath. Kitchen was stocked with enough amenities for cooking meals and we found a bag of fresh ice in the freezer. Don't know if it was left by previous guests or by AMR, but we really appreciated that. Back deck is showing serious damage from woodpeckers which made us doubt its integrity--may need to be inspected. But the worst happened mid-week--we confronted a mouse in the living room that we found skittering back and forth behind the sofa by the window. We broke the broom from the front porch trying to kill the thing; chased it from the living room to the downstairs bdrm closet to the bathroom. It escaped when it dashed into the laundry closet. This guest highly recommends stepping up extermination measures and getting all exterior holes in the cabin (especially in laundry closet) sealed. That experience definitely changed the tone of the rest of our stay (we 2nd guessed all noises heard at night and were afraid to leave our belongings out anywhere downstairs). I never thought to buy mouse traps, but would probably have some with me on a return visit. With 2 was great to have the twin bed plus the king, rather than one kid sleeping on a sleeper sofa. Cabin was easier to get to than a cabin on the mountain & less stress on our car. There are insects boring into the rail on the deck..making sawdust that falls into the hot tub....and the deck railing was a bit loose. A great stay & we'll visit again if possible! We were not happy with the pool table and game room set up. We were very excited about playing when we arrived, and were disappointed to find an inexpensive table in a room that was too small to hold it. It was impossible to play from either side of the table because of the angle it sat in the room, and the fact that the room was just too small. Because they drain the hottub after each check out the first night we used the hottub it was not as warm as we expected. The patio furniture on the very small deck overlooking a street was in very poor condition. We didn't even attempt to use it because of the risk of splinters and chipped paint. When we arrived we were excited, the chalet was beautiful, plenty of room. Hot tub was wonderful. The office was nice and let us check in late. The next morning we had to drive back down to Pigeon Forge to sign papers. When I walked in the office both ladies were on the phone. I stood there for about 5-10 minutes before anyone acknowledged me. When she did get off the phone she had to tell me about her painful knees and ankle. Anywho...on the the trip. Coffee maker didnt work, so we had to drive back down to the office to get a new one. Traffic was crazy as usual. That night we were settled in and realized the heat stopped working. we called the on call maintainance person that creeped us out. He asked if there were any men in the house, then who all was in the house. Not comforting to a group of four women. I let him know that the conversation made me feel creepy and he got mad (even creepier). We called him back to tell him nevermind...we'll be fine and he insisted on coming anyway. Long story short...we frantically lock all doors and windows, turned out all lights and spooned for the rest of the night. We will not be back with this company. There should have been linens available for the additional bedding items in the closets, as many of them were stained and did not appear as fresh as they may have been. There were many furnishings damaged that needed repair or replacement from less concientious tenants of the property. the BBQ on the deck needs serious attention as it is missing key components. We loved the cabin layout and the quiet area it was located in. The hot tub provided nice periods of relaxation after a busy day of activities. You have to drive through Gatlinburg to get to the good hiking trails in the Smokie Mountains and to Pigeon Forge to go to Dollywood. We spent a lot of time in the hot tub even though the tempatures dropped into the teens while we were there. Our only complaint was cleanliness. The kitchen wasn't quite as clean as I would've expected. The vent hood was really bad. I also raised all the blinds so we could see out and enjoy the views and there were dead bugs in almost all the sills. The office employees were alays very helpful and handled requests promptly. The smell of the wood was intoxicating and the amenities were wonderful; it was great to be able to get in the hot tub after a long hike and smell what was cooking on the grill beside us. It was easy to find and close to plenty of stuff without being too close and spoiling our nature trip. I would have stayed weeks if I could've, and will definitely be renting this cabin again. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2010 When we checked in, we asked if it was clean, because we have rented places before that were not. They assured us it was, so we went on to find our cabin. First of all, the directions were a mess! Our cabin was in a location with about 12 others. The cabins were so close to each other, we could through our garbage to the can on the other deck. Not the mountain retreat we were looking for, but the cabin was beautiful overall. We settled in and as the afternoon went on, we began to have black ants everywhere, even in the oven! We called the next morning and they said they exterminate every month and they could spray, but we would have to leave for 8 hours......Well with young children, we chose not to have that done. The ants were a nuescence, but the cobwebs were awful! You could tell they had been there a while, as the spiders were alive and thriving. Wouldn't a monthly spraying take care of that??? Then there was the greasy dust on the wall hangings throughout the cabin. The shower began to leak from upstairs and I got rained on in the kitchen, couldn't believe it. The icing on the cake was when we found the black lace underwear, full of dust bunnies behind the bed. Needless to say, we did NOT leave a tip for the cleaning company. Our stay was great, and the cabin overall was good, but would not rent from this company again. We called maintenance and they told us to wait a few hours. We came back a few hours later and the temperature only went up a degree. When we called back they told us it was too late for the maintenance man to come and we would have to wait for the morning. The management did nothing to repay us for the tub being messed up. No apology, no money back, no nothing. I highly value customer service and this agency did nothing to provide that. An apology would have been nice. We were given ample time to get packed and get the key back. The only thing that was noticable was cobwebs and dust on all the towels and stuff. Just seemed like no one had been in it in a while. It was spacious and a great place to have our small wedding reception after an evening wedding!The only drawback to this property is that there is construction going on behind - new road and cabins going it. The people were very friendly.and out going, we would visit again in a heart beat. And we would recommend it to anyone & everyone! I called they was suppost to come and clean and they didnt do that good even after i did call. I still would come back though and plan to.
