No Title, Just a Review A guest from Columbia, MD does not recommend this property. Stayed for 7 days in May, 2013 FIrst, the full bath in this cabin is the best I have ever seen. It was perfectly laid out. The bed was extremely comfortable. But if you had to do laundry or use the closet, you would have to slide by the bed to get to both. Once you opened the doors to the closet, you have to be careful not to take out the nightstand and don't forget to turn on the light! Its on the outside of the closet, at furthest point on the wall, so its a bit tricky to reach. The stairways were very spacious. The living room was nice but lacked comfort. It has a leather couch and a small coffee table and a chair made out of twigs? Of course the TV was great. The half bath conveniently located nearby. The kitchen was well cleaned, spotless really. Lots of empty shelves, limited kitchen textiles. And the smallest pub table ever. An with every Smoky Mountain cabin, you get the infamous pool table. We never used it. The balcony was nice of course. The really nice perk this time was the alarm system. This cabin has one which made us feel more secure. Don't even think about logging onto the internet, you barely get a signal. If you want complete seclusion, this is the place for you. You only have to drive way out of the way to get there. This is our second stay with Elk Springs and the first cabin we stayed at was wonderful! This cabin resembled a Linkin Logs home thrown together with never ending bear paintings. The only 2 signs that make this cabin feel personable are the wall hangings with scripture on them. In conclusion, I probably wouldn't suggest this cabin to family or friends do to the limited comforts of home. It is well maintained overall. 36th ANNIVERSARY & 60th BIRTHDAY VACATION A guest from Pensacola, Fla. recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in September, 2011 We enjoyed this cabin so much last year, we decided to return this year. The view of the mountains is breathtaking from both upper & lower decks. We've never slept in a bed so comfortable. We wanted to bring it home with us! Loved the California rain shower and the hot tub. The pool table is probably our favorite ammenity. We played every night! The rocking chairs on the upper deck are so comfortable. We stayed on the deck almost all day when we didn't go out. The porch swing on the lower deck was great! That's the first thing I did every morning. It's comfortable and it swings perfectly. I will add that the clothes dryer was very dusty on top and the accent lights and the flood light for the grill were not working. Also the battery for the grill ignite button and 2 remotes were not working but my husband just swapped them out of a remote from the bathroom which we weren't going to use. The only change we'd like to see would be a larger more comfortable sofa. But all in all we had a great time and hope to return again. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2011 The pictures on the elk springs website of the Mountain Hideaway cabin were NOT the correct pics. The view from the balcony does NOT look like the pic. The quiet stream, as advertised on your website for this cabin, could NOT be heard due to the roaring of the traffic on highway 321. Overall we were satisfied with the cabin itself but it was NOT just like the website stated. The pics were very misleading when you think you will overlook the mountains when in fact the view was blocked by trees due to the fact that the pics were obviously taken much higher up the mountainside than where the cabin actually sits. Very nice cabin, a little too far out of town but overall a nice place. Probably will not stay here again. The location and disappointment of misinformation from website are too much to deal with to plan a return trip. The details on the website were very outdone once ariving at the cabin, definetly they do not give themselves enough credit when describing their cabins. We were celebrating 36 years of marriage and this was our private little bit of heaven for 3 days. Stayed for 2 days in October, 2010 the cabin was beautiful, we had a lot of fun...on the downside however, there was a dirty rag left on the upstairs fireplace (which we couldn't get to work and the remote only flashed at us) there were cobwebs all over the upstairs bathroom and the inside light to the sauna did not work...i had been told that the cabin we were staying in was secluded and we had LOTS of neighbors and the pictures online of the cabin are EXTREMELY decieving. you do have beautiful rental properties, but as a tip i would pay closer attention to detail to the one and two bedroom cabins as those are smaller families or honeymooners and will notice smaller things. loved our time down there in the mountains though, the scenery is gorgeous. Rocking chairs and the swing were so comfortable. We spent most of our time during the day on the decks. The electric fireplaces were amazing! The pool table was so much fun. We shot pool every night and some during the day. The one thing I wanted to bring home with us was the bed. I have never slept on anything so comfortable. My husband has a back problem and it did not bother him at all while we were there. Both of us haven't slept good since we've been home. Everything about the Mountain Hideaway cabin was amazing and perfect. We've been going to the Smoky Mountains for over 25 years and this cabin is light years ahead of any of the other cabins we've stayed in. We are definately going back every year. A stretch from downtown, but didnt mind the drive. =) Biggest disappointment was the advertisement for "4 fireplaces." They are all pretty much pictures. Electric, turned on with a remote, and dont even emit heat. We were looking forward to real fireplaces - or at least gas fireplaces. Not too thrilled with how close the neighbors were, though we didnt hear or even see another soul while we were there. The view is great - as long as you dont look down at the road below you. You have to look straight out and/or up. Blue Ridge, GA had the most amazing view yet. Bed was EXTREMELY comfortable, bathroom was amazing! While there was a coffee maker and cups, etc - would have been nice to have had some coffee stocked in the cabinets as well. Call me picky, but these were just side thoughts that didnt really affect my stay. The overall stay was wonderful and I had a great time! Very clean and the staff was great. =) If you are set on Gatlinburg, I would recommend these cabins.
