Pet friendly? A guest from St Regis park, KY does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2013 Cabin as advertised....with a few minor dings...if you plan on bringing four legged friends, please note there really isn't a good level place for them to do their business...Also, getting the cover off the hot tub is an tough exercise, other cabins have things to help you with that..not this one....also the drive up to the cabin was a bit scary, we have a 270 HP car and it struggled at some points...I wouldn't try it in rain or snow....OWNERS NOTE: would it kill you to have a proper skillet in the cabin to make pancakes? How bout a tiny area for the dogs to pee? Fix the motion lights so we can see at night to take the dogs out or offer a flashlight?Overall...acceptable but we've stayed in better. Not Private Debra T. from Windsor, IL does not recommend this property. Stayed for 5 days in May, 2013 We had read the reviews on this cabin and people were saying that it was very private. No it was not. There was a cabin on each side. The cabin to the right we could not see and did not hear anything from any one there. The cabin to the left was close enough that we ended up hanging a blanket we brought to hide from seeing them from our deck. My husband is hard hearing and we were in the hot tub with it running and we could still hear the people from the cabin to the left. Did not like that anyone could walk from the front of the cabin around the side on the deck to the back part of the deck. The drive up to this cabin is very challenging. We had 4 wheel drive and it had rained and the asphalt was very slick and our tires still slipped trying to get a grip. The inside of the cabin was very nice, small but cozy. There is a wood burning fireplace and all the wood was wet because is was not protected from the rain. The cabin did not have a washer and dryer, which I missed. We were leaving from there to Gulfport, MS and would have like to have been able to do some laundry first. The staff of American Mountain Rental are the most polite and enjoyable people to deal with. We will be back and we will rent from American Mountain Rentals. We stayed the last time in Bareskin Romance and it was wonderful. Not as high in the mountains but very private. Could not see any other cabins from the deck on the cabin. We are hoping to be back in October with our grandkids. There is a lot to do and see no matter what the weather is. Online, it said "secluded" but other guests in neighboring cabins kept us up all night partying on their decks. The dishwasher leaked all over the floor and only the jets on one side of jacuzzi tub worked. There were sheets and blankets thrown in a pile on the floor in both the closet upstairs and downstairs. There were no sheets on the pull out couch downstairs and the upstairs bed was incredibly uncomfortable. Also, there were things left in the shower from whoever stayed there before us. This cabin is cozy, well built, great view, great movies to watch especially the oldies. The view is just as seen in the pictures. The location is smack between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge so you have a great choice of activities or no activities if you choose. Very clean. The only flaw I would indicate is the build up of grease on the kitchen wall cabinets.....picky huh? I would definitely recommend and come again. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2011 On a positive note, the view from the back porch of this cabin was breathtaking. But the bed felt like we were sleeping on a rock. It was very uncomfortable. The jacuzzi had bugs & debris in it and when I called to ask if we could drain it and clean it, the only response I got was that it was drained and sanitized after the last guests left. If so, I wonder how so much stuff got in it with a cover on?? The cabin was somewhat clean, but you could tell it hasn't been cleaned well for a while. The dust on the valances was thick enough to write your name in it and the shower curtain liner felt slimy on the inside. Stayed for 5 days in June, 2011 There were a few negatives; the jacuzzi tub had issues and filled with water that looked like dirty dishwater and left a clay or rust looking residue behind. Could not use it. There were no screens on the windows and therefore nothing to keep racoons out of the cabin but for closing all the windows. Small table on deck was broken and top to hot tub on deck broken and leaning into hot tub. Some spills had been missed on kitchen cabinets and the cookware was pretty old and nasty. Otherwise nice location, nice little cabin. I would stay at Sequoyah again for location and atmosphere. The cabin was clean and well kept. We did have a fly issue. When we got there, there was probably at least 100 dead flies on the floors. Figured they had just done pest control. I swept them all up, but each day, I had to re-sweep. There were less each day, and the last day there, we probably only had a few. Also one night, our heat went out. Property mgmt was awesome and had a tech out at 11:00 that night night to fix it. But other than that--we had a fantastic vacation! Hot Tub was secluded from view of other cabins. Everything worked in Cabin. Negatives: Neighboring Cabin could see right into our bedroom area very clearly, also, Bee Hive on porch hindered being in the hot tub. Bee Guy could not make it in that weekend. We were offered other accomidations or a refund but declined because everything else was worth the stay. Without Bee problems and privacy issue, it would have been a perfect stay. This cabin was very high up, the drive was difficult, especially for a car (not a 4wd)it was hard to find and I was lost and terrified in the middle of the night trying to find it because the person I talked to did not tell me the truth when I asked. I also registered three people, 1 for the roll out and asked if I would need to bring linens. I was told that all linens were supplied. When we FINALLY arrived after midnight the first night, there were no linens for the roll out sofa bed so I slept in my clothes with my coat for a pillow. When I called the next day I was told that I was suppose to have brought linens - with no offer of help when I protested that I had asked and been told otherwise. I would not return, nor would I recommend these cabins. These cabins are marketed as luxury when they are, in fact rustic - which isn't terrible if you know that going in. Overall - 2; staff - 1; cleanliness 3.You didn't ruin the entire vacation but I sure would never stay with you again. The location, the ameneties, the cleanliness and the general condition. However there is one thing that I did not like about renting here, and that is there is no one to help you after 9.30PM. You are on you own. I had a tough time finding this location when I checked in. My flight was delayed and could not get to this place on time. Once I started my drive to the hill top to reach this cabin I was stuck in the middle of the road by a fallen tree. I called all the possible numbers at American Mountain Rentals to find an alternate route and there was no response. Funny enough the emergency contact had a voice message for an another cell phone number that did not exist. Later I had to call 911 and get out of that place and get thier help for an another route to reach here.The cabin itself is very good and worth every money that you spend. It is a lovely place. Within 30 min. of checking in we found the hot tub not to be in working order. We called the office and it took an hour for some Gary T. from Knoxville, Tennessee does not recommend this property. Stayed for 1 days in March, 2009 up and said to cover it for a couple of hours and the reason for the slow jets was the tub was old. The Jacuzzi was not working properly. One side of the jets did not work at all and black residue came out of the working side. After the allotted time we tried the hot tub again. It was completely broken. The DVD player froze about 30 min. into every movie we tried to watch.The office was closed by this time and we had to wait until the next morning to call.We ask for another cabin and was told we would have to pay another fee.They offered to put a new pump in the hot tub. But it would take a few hours. As we had already lost about 22 hours we did not want to wait for a pump. This was suppose to be a romantic weekend and we had to wait a total of 4 hours on a service man, and we did not get to use anything we paid for. After insisting on checking out a day early we were only refunded $126.00 out of $292.00 All we got out of our weekend was lost time and money. I will never stay at your cabins again. And I still feel like I should have more of a refund . With everything broken it was no different from a motel stay. And I would not have paid $166.00 for one night in a motel. The fireplace and heating system kept us very warm, the hot tub on the back deck was a nice treat, and the view is spectacular. Just right for two, we fell in love with the view, the fireplace; a great place to rest and unwind from the stress of daily living. We spent most of our time in the parks hiking, then returned to the cabin to light a fire in the fireplace, soak in the hot tub and/or jacuzzi, and just enjoy our surroundings. This is our first stay in a lob home (aside from our honeymoon in the Smokies 13 years ago), and it has certainly spoiled us. The cabin was extremely dark, and not having a main bath on the same floor as the bedroom was really a detraction (we both have limited mobility and are supposed to do minimal stairs). Worst of all, there was an infestation of bugs on the counters, not once but twice. Maintenance was very good about coming out to clean, but we never felt comfortable keeping any food on the counters or cooking.All in all, not a great experience and we'll definitely think twice about new properties with AMR. On the back there is a post with very large nails sticking out but the most dangerous issue is the rail around the pourch. There are several of the thinner vertical rails that are loose. My 4 year old son leaned on one to look at the view and could have easily fallen through had we not been right there.We cont.d to check the others and found several loose like that including some by the hot tub.I wanted to bring this to your attention to avoid any possible accidents. The cabin was very cozy and romantic. At check in the people were very friendly. There were a couple of repairs needed on the cabin, but they did not inhibit our enjoyment. The roof had a small leak and the faucet was loose on the bathtub. We told the person who checked us out and she said that they would have it looked at.
