Gulf Dunes 505 A guest from Tompkinsville, Kentucky recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in April, 2012 We had an excellent stay at Gulf Dunes. I feel like the room we were in hadn't been kept up very well with rust on the side of the refrigerator and stains on the curtains in the bedroom. Also there was no deadbolt on the door nor did the door latch tight, appeared it may have been broken into at some point. There was also a broken lamp in the living room. These are all jsut minor details in the room. The service was excellent and view was amazing. This is the third time we have stayed with Brooks and Shorey, they were professional as always. The condo had everything you would need for a stay there and more. Next time, we may consider another condo, just for the ability to spread out on the beach a bit more. We felt a little hindered with the lifeguard tower on one side and then a endless row of umbrellas in front of the condo. Gulf Dunes has a great view, 2 nice pools and our condo was clean, nicely decorated, and uncluttered. When we got there they did not allow early check in, When we finally got to our room the bedroom TV was broke, notified them right them. They did not fix it until 6 days later. Which was the night before we were leaving. Was not very happy with the fact they couldnt get to it any sooner. The view is great and the room is good. They tell you in there check in letter not to put the air under 75 which i didnt like. Im on vacation I want to be comfortable. But I might stay there again i am not sure. As an avid pool person, I was very disappointed with that. Additionally, children were using the pools a great deal of the time without parental supervision and throwing objects from one side of the pool to the other. It was impossible to enjoy being in the pool with that going on. I was hit in the neck by a ball they were using one time and it was not pleasant at all. Spending time in the pool is usually a big part of my vacation and it was just not worth it. Next time, I will be sure to ask about pools specifically. Other than that, we had a nice time. View was nice and great proximity to the beach, however, beach water was not what I expected. Lots of algae in water and saw a couple of dead fish...I've always heard how nice Destin beaches are and Okaloosa Island (gulf) was disappointing.Amenities were great.
