Large Comfortable Quiet Cabin With A View
A guest from Montgomery, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in August, 2018
Rented the Granary Lodge with a group of 15 looking for a weekend away at a cabin both comfortable and secluded and it did not disappoint in any fashion. When you venture up the gravel driveway you are immediately met with beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the gentle breeze of sitting on a hill top. You're far enough away from the world to leave life behind you but not too far that you can't run to the dollar store a few minutes down the road if you forgot something. The cabin doesn't blow you away from the outside but the inside was very nice. We spent hours in the game room hanging out on the bar, relaxing on the comfortable couches, playing shuffleboard with functioning scoreboard, and playing pool. The pool table is past its prime but gets the job done. The bedrooms were clean and comfortable and the large kitchen and dining area made group meals what they are meant to be. The decks off the upstairs are the perfect place to watch the sunrise or to sit and enjoy the mountain air. Outside has plenty of yard space for yard games and the fire pit was the perfect way to cap off our day. We really appreciated having three bathrooms with showers to get everyone ready for the day and the two refrigerators were very helpful since we brought and ate all our meals at the cabin. The rental company was helpful, sent me all the documentation when they said they would, and answered all of my questions right away. This is not a 5-star hotel but if you’re looking for a comfortable quiet place with a view and that rustic cabin feel, this is for you.

Granary lodge-year two
Edward B. from York, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in August, 2018
The lodge was clean and comfortable. Sleeps up to 20 but I think that's pushing it. Beautiful views and very quiet. Two complaints: the pool table is worthless and the stove is electric (only one large burner-tough to cook for a large group).

Very Peaceful Retreat
Maria S. from Monroeville, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in July, 2018
We had 7 moms and 8 daughters stay here. It was a very nice experience. The grounds were very peaceful. There could be room for improvement from the cleaning staff. The house was definitely not spotless but it also wasn't filthy. I just think they could step it up a notch. Also, the pictures make the house look Brand new, fancy, and luxurious. It is not. The house is more of a rustic feel which was fine just different from the pictures! Overall I'd recommend it and do it again

Successful Family Reunion
Julia R. from Bethesda, MD recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in May, 2018
We had a wonderful time. The property is beautiful and the campfire pit a huge hit! The one complaint we had is that the long legs of the bench seats for the kitchen table were a horrible tripping hazard! Every single one of us either stubbed our toes on the benches at least once and almost fell after tripping!!

Terrific place for teenage boys!
Heather K. from FALLS CHURCH, VA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in April, 2018
We brought our 13-year old son and 8 of his friends along with another adult couple for our son's birthday celebration. This was a great place for the boys to explore and rest before and after our rafting trip. It was much nicer than trying to stay in multiple rooms in a hotel and then eating out. I would definitely come back with this type of group. The room with the bunk beds sleeps 10 but is definitely a converted garage. For our purposes, it didn't matter, but it might be a bit of a surprise to the unaware. One issue we had is that the dishwasher door does not open all the way due to the proximity of the refrigerator.

The Granary
A guest from Cranberry Township, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in February, 2018
The Granary is a cozy place for a family vacation. We love the seclusion, the sled riding hill, the fire pit, and the pool table and shuffleboard table. The big open kitchen is ideal for family dinners and board games. The OVR staff is extremely responsive and accommodating.

A guest from Petersburg, OH recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in January, 2018
We had some rain water come in under the lower door, carpet wet just inside door. The kids loved the game room and bunk room, a great hill for sledding. The lodge was warm and cozy. Kitchen was well equipped, was not easy to maneuver in. House was very rustic but clean and comfortable.Supplemental heaters in basement on same circuit kept popping breakers. Overall very satisfied.

Don't be Fooled....
A guest from Washington, DC does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in November, 2017
My group of friends go to a cabin every Fall to get away from the city, enjoy the outdoors, and relax. We saw the pictures of this place on HomeAway months in advance of our trip and thought it looked good.A week before the trip, we contacted the management company to get more details. They responded by saying "you'll get your information the week of". Flash forward to a few days before our trip and OVR sends a long contract that does not match information in the HomeAway ad or in the confirmation of the booking, such as the check-out time, amenities, and fees. Thus, we asked for confirmation of the amenities and that OVR honor the info that was confirmed at booking months before. Rather than offer check-out an hour later (our request), OVR offered early check-in, which we didn't ask for nor did it help us. Also, OVR didn't respond to our questions about the amenities. We asked our questions a second time via email, such as "can you confirm this rental has a grill?", etc. and asked to pay to extend the check-out time (an option OVR offered). OVR simply chose not to respond (before or after our stay). At this point, we do not have a good feeling about this and it turns out, this was warranted. The pictures of this house were clearly taken YEARS ago. Long story short, this place is in mediocre condition and very worn. Only three of the four stove burners functioned without smoking, while there was in fact a grill, it was rusted out and unusable, the pool table has holes in the pockets, etc. We will not be going back to Granary Lodge and were extremely disappointed with OVR's customer service.

Third straight year we rented this home. The rental company is great. The home location is perfect. The only upgrades needed are a table top cover for the long table upstairs and a TV in the main room on the first floor. The room is so nice and spacious we would love to hang out there more. We plan to come back for many more years.

A Swampy Stay
Vanessa W. from New Orleans, LA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in October, 2017
The surrounding landscape was gorgeous, as well as the house, aside from some expected wear and tear downstairs. When we tried to check in, the company did not know the code to the lockbox, and couldn't get it to us for over an hour. They did refund our early check-in fee, which was appropriate. However, we had one large issue that put a damper on our stay and was not handled well. For some reason, the bunkroom flooded during our visit, meaning that the majority of our wedding guests had to trudge through the water to get to their bunks. It caused a terrible, musty smell throughout the home, and was especially unpleasant anywhere downstairs. Many people elected to sleep in their cars, upstairs, or left altogether. For a nearly $1,000 stay, I expected that we would not have these issues, that they would be fixed promptly, or that we would be refunded a portion due to the inconvenience that it caused. None of that happened. I would not stay here again unless the property was managed more effectively.

Great place, isolated location (until the hunters show up)
A guest from Pittsburgh, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in September, 2017
The property was just what we were looking for: Lots of room to spread out, three bathrooms, and pretty nice -- but no so nice that you?re afraid to touch anything. It?s a bit worn in spots (pool table?s looking rough, faucets are loose, carpeting downstairs is stained, bad icemaker, etc) but really, that?s to be expected in a place that sleeps 20 for $650 a night. If you want 5-star accommodations, Nemacolin is down the road. If you want a place where 20 people can sit at a campfire and make a little noise, you?ll put up with a few inconveniences. The location is great too ? close to Ohiopyle, Ft. Necessity, biking and hiking trails, pizza shops, etc. Among the inconveniences I mentioned:-Wasps. Yes, this is the great outdoors, but there was at least one nest that was visible. Lots of wasps congregated near porches and patios. Not a major issue, but it could be if you are allergic.-TV. Other reviewers mentioned this too. For us it wasn?t an issue because we had great weather and were outside. But the Direct TV signal is fickle and seems to work better in the afternoon than the morning. Don?t know why. Bring your own DVDs. -Hunters: The property owner gives permission for hunters to use his land. Sometimes it?s one hunter, sometimes it might be a pheasant hunting party from Nemacolin (which organizes hunts Sept. through spring). Hunters came pretty close to the house, and pretty early too. Members of our group were still sleeping at 8 am when we heard the first shotgun blasts. They were close enough that we could hear birdshot whizzing through the trees (meaning they were shooting in our direction from over a hill). If you have kids with you, it could be scary for the little ones as well as the parents. Property owners and OVR need to do a better job of informing renters if / when the property is simultaneously hosting hunters that same day / weekend / week. God forbid there should be an accident -- I would think there would

We rented Granary Lodge for the wedding party after the reception. Everyone really enjoyed our stay at the Granary Lodge! The building has amazing views from the two decks on the second story! The first floor has plenty of room to socialize and play pool or "shuffleboard" game. There are plenty of beds in the bunk room, however it is in a repurposed garage so be to sure to use the space heaters to warm it up (There are plenty).Overall, everyone in the group loved the stay and we honestly are planning on staying again with more time dedicated to relaxing at the lodge.

Amazing Bonding Experience For Family With Teens & Young Adults
Lynne C. from Fairview, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in August, 2017
My second visit to the Granary Lodge in August 2017 was with my kids and husband, and a few family members -- all between the ages of 15 - 51. The Lodge was perfect for our group of 9 -- but it can easily accommodate many more. My teens LOVED the downstairs game room with pool table and shuffle board -- and they also loved sleeping in the downstairs bunk room. Because the weather was amazing, we spent much of our time outside enjoying the property. While we didn't venture too far into the 600+ acres, we did enjoy the privacy and beautiful sweeping views of mountains. At night the sky was so dark we could see all the stars and enjoy the sounds of the wildlife. We brought yard games (can jam, corn hole, and spike ball). We also brought camp chairs, firewood and s'mores ingredients and enjoyed time around the fire pit. It was like having the best parts of nature and camping -- without roughing it! We forgot to bring fishing poles to take advantage of the stocked pond on the property. We'll try that next time! The kitchen was modern and had everything we needed. Having 2 refrigerators in the kitchen is a nice feature for a big house like this. We got take out pizza from Paddler's one night, along with salads and soups from the General Store. The bathrooms were modern. The washer and dryer appeared to be new. The purpose of our trip was to go whitewater rafting. Granary Lodge is only about 11 minutes from the launch site for the Lower Yough. We chose Ohiopyle Trading Post as our provider and could not have been happier. It was a great family bonding experience and ALL of us want to do it again. We also explored Cucumber Falls and the Adventure Course/Zip Lines. I knew the trip was a success when my teen boys said they did not even miss having their electronic games! We will choose OVR again -- they were easy to work with provided us with everything we needed. We had no reason to contact them during our stay -- everything

Family Reunion
A guest from Duquesne, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in August, 2017
I would certainly return here. It was clean, close enough to Ohiopyle for all our activities, and completely private. We held a family reunion over a long weekend, and everyone was quite happy with it. A word of warning about the living room -- there isn't much of one. I emailed the company before we booked, and asked if 11 people would be able to sit all on couches to watch a movie on our Family Night. They replied (I emailed them about several things, replies are always prompt and friendly!) that there was plenty of room. When we showed up, the living room area has a love-seat-sized sleeper sofa, and a recliner in it. That will hold 3 adults. Four if you squish. Um, not good for movie night at all. We put a mattress on the floor for the kids, and the rest of us sat on bar stools behind the love seat. We had fun anyway. But for anyone else looking for a comfy place to all sit around together, this isn't it. Even the firepit only has decent seating for about five people. If you want to sit down much, bring your own camp chairs. If sitting around isn't your thing, you will love this place!

Stayed for 2 days in July, 2017
We had a great time at ohiopyle rafting and hiking. Beautiful area. The stay at the granery lodge was also nice. It was spacious, clean, and the scenery there was also beautiful. My only complaint would be the shower head in the bathroom at the end of the hall by the bedrooms needs replaced. It doesn't stay pointing out so you have to hold it for it to spray on your body. If that is my worst complaint it was a pretty good stay. Overall a great visit.

We had a great two-night summer stay at Granary Lodge. The cabin was very nice but not without a few quirks (super small showers, a recliner that repeatedly got stuck in the reclined position, no tips on the pool sticks, etc.). However, all of these things were all really very minor and did nothing to stop us from enjoying our weekend, the great get-away-from-it-all location, the fire pit, and the view!

Disappointing for the amount of money spent
A guest from Evans City, PA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in June, 2017
I rented granary lodge for my son's high school graduation party. I will say that the kids very much enjoyed their time over the weekend the house had plenty of room it was clean on the inside and there is a lot of property for the kids to explore and do outdoor activities What I found disappointing for the $1200 I spent for 2 nights was the amount of garbage left by other tenants that was not picked up before our arrival and the maintenance that needed to be done to the interior of the house: the railing at the top of the stairs leading to the upper floor inside was very wobbly and unstable. The carpeting in the game room while swept was very stained and snagged it was very unsightly The door leading from the game room to the outside would constantly stick and eventually the door knob came off we were able to replace it before leaving the window in the middle bedroom could not be opened because it did not have a screen The handle on the shower in the master bathroom was very loose and wobbly the dining room table Was large enough to fit all of the kids but appeared to have been left outside as it was warped had uneven boards and large spaces between them it made it difficult to eat as there was no flat surface The recliner in the living room was very difficult to open and even more difficult to close The stainless steel refrigerator in the kitchen had to be moved in-and-out of its space in order to use the dishwasher and had to be pushed all the way in in order for the dishwasher door to open and then pulled back out so the refrigerator doors could open it obviously did not fit in that space There were many many lights burnt-out and not a single light bulb was in the house. Some lamps did not have any bulbs at all. There were remains of a barn on site that was quite an eyesore and safety hazard. Lots of room, beautiful views, but not worth $1200 for only 2 nights.

Ladies Retreat Weekend
Valerie M. from Greensburg, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in September, 2016
The main living area was very nice and accommodated our ladies group very well. I was disappointed to see that the bedroom where most of us were staying was actually a garage. The garage door was actually open and that was a little scary. We figured out how to lock it. We saw a mouse in that bedroom as well as one in the kitchen. Some of the ladies were very freaked out by this (especially the bedroom). Also when we were leaving I checked under all of the beds to make sure nothing was left behind. There was a bag of half eaten funyons and peanut butter cups which would surely attract rodents.

The house and property were nice overall, but the supposed wifi was non-existent. It showed a very weak signal and was impossible to connect to. I had called the office to try to order a fight that night, and I never received a call back. Also, there was a smell in the lower level.

Undisclosed construction before wedding - beautiful nonetheless
A guest from Sorrento, ME recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in August, 2016
This property was the site for my wedding ceremony and reception. We revisited the property 2 weeks before the wedding for planning purposes and found that the back field of wildflowers had been utterly torn up and bulldozed flat so that the property owner could dump truckloads of dirt from a dredged lake on his home property. There were trash, bottles, cans, and construction equipment in multiple places on the property. After being told I would be called back 3-4 times, I finally was able to get in contact with someone at OVR. Nikki was very kind and reassuring that it would be cleaned up, but you simply cannot re-grow acres wildflowers in 2 weeks. My husband and I chose this lodge because of the wildness of the land, which had been significantly damaged. The pictures do not reflect the current state of the place. The lodge itself is beautiful and accurate. The granary in the yard is halfway torn down, and the back yard is a construction site. I was offered a tiny partial refund to compensate for the undisclosed changes made to the property and the breach of contract. Some of the equipment was cleaned up, but much remained on the property for our wedding. Still, we were able to rearrange our reception site to detract attention from those areas. The space down by the pond is beautiful and isolated. Inside the lodge is gorgeous, spacious, and well-maintained. There were wasps inside one of the bedrooms and nests on the back porch. The Wifi does not work. Despite the serious breach of trust, we still had a really satisfying stay at the granary lodge. I would be very careful not to trust photographs found online of any of the properties.

Hi Jen!

Thank you so much for your feedback! We are thrilled to hear that you found the location to be beautiful, that the lodge was stunning, and that your wedding was all that you'd hoped that it would be. I do apologize for the far off field having some ground re-aranged. Although we did let you know this ahead of time, we do appologize nonetheless that it was an inconvenience in some way. I am also glad to hear that you found the pond to be isolated and beautiful. We would love to have you back with us again in the future at one of our 35+ vacation rental homes and 4 wedding venues. Overpriced, issues
Reviewed by: Jennifer G. does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in July, 2016
This property had the following "issues": no curb appeal from outside..wondered if we were in the wrong place; this says it sleeps 20, but 14 of these people sleep in a converted garage on the first level, this might work for some groups but there were some arguments regarding quiet and space in our group of smaller kids and teenagers. The other three rooms each have a queen bed; kitchen/dining is very small for 20 people- the picnic-style dining table is a bad shop project with warped boards (spilled drinks several times) and legs on the benches that stick out so that everyone stubbed their toes by the time we were done. The outside picnic table is about 600 feet away from the house at the pond, so not convenient to use near the house. The pond was not stocked with fish that we could see and no one caught any fish- the pond is buggy, with trash and empty shell casings from people shooting down there. Back to the house- the first floor is a nice set up with the pool table and shuffle board- the kids enjoyed this, but the carpet is dirty and needs ripped out and there is a smell down there. The man floor is rustic and charming. Other than the first floor carpet, the house was clean and in good repair. There is a small sitting/living room upstairs (needed to be bigger) and the deck was a big disappointment- it only seated 5 at most and needed to be triple the size. No outdoor patio. There are several earth movers about 100 feet from the house. There is no functional Wifi- none! We had issues with the refrigerators, broken shower faucet handle, and locks not working properly. This property should have rented at closer to $300/night max. It is a pretty view with some interesting old buildings onsite to explore (be careful with kids). The fire pit is nice- needs more seating. Bring folding chairs. Bottom line- we had a nice time and the property has some advantages, but we will find another place the next time we visit Ohiopyle!

Hi Jenn!

Thank you for your feedback. We greatly appreciate and take to heart every suggestion that our guests make. I am so glad that you enjoyed the home, the shuffle board downstairs, the charming rustic decor and beautiful view from the upstairs, as well as the entire floor. I do apologize that you found the wifi to be lacking and the seating to not be as large as it could be. We will definitely address that with our staff and extend the seating. I appreciate your comments and hope you come back and visit us again at one of our 35+ properties! We would love to accommodate you and your group again!

Great but a Few Negatives.
Mathias B. from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in June, 2016
Overall it was an excellent venue. Only 2 negatives:1. The 10AM check out time is excessively early! I stay in hotels very often and check out is rarely before noon. Considering we had to cook breakfast and clean I thought the check out time should have been at least 11AM, but noon is more appropriate.2. One of the biggest Pittsburgh Sporting events and the channel at lodge was not offered - huge disappointment! I called to get the channel requested and my request was never acknowledged.

Great Getaway
A guest from New York, NY recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in May, 2016
Three families, with 5 teenagers among us, enjoyed Memorial Day weekend at the Granary. The living space easily and comfortably accommodated all of us, and we particularly liked being able to eat as a group at the long, picnic table style, dining room. In particular, as vacation rentals go, the kitchen is very well stocked, although OVR gives a helpful, detailed list of what you should bring. The only discrepancy of the property description was the newly leveled ground, with two construction trucks, seen off to the left when standing on the porch. There's also a small deserted dairy barn structure, but we thought it was poetic. The Lodge couldn't be more convenient to Ohiopyle State Park and all its activities, as well as Fallingwater. While making the reservation, OVR was professional and responsive, but two phone calls to them while we were there went unanswered; as a past reviewer commented, the WIFI was spotty to non- existent which we wanted to check upon, and we wanted another firewood source because their recommended person was ultimately undependable. Some details: the ice maker didn't work, one upstairs bathroom needs a mirror over the sink, bring lawn chairs to enjoy the deck and firepit (although there's a picnic table and big rocks), provided linens are fine, but sheets have a slippery feel and the eaves over the upstairs side door and around the porch seemed to attract an inordinate amount of bumble bees. We still had a wonderful time!

We had a group of 20 stay in the Granary Lodge and had an awesome experience. There was plenty of room for all of us and a large variety of things to do along with a breathtaking view we all thoroughly enjoyed. The house was wonderfully made and kept very clean. Two issues: The wifi did not work at all and there was some construction going on outside and the contractors requested that we move all of our vehicles. This was a hassle and the noise became annoying at times, but overall, it did not diminish the amazing experience we had. 5 out of 5. Would love to come back again!

Fantastic Weeked Made Even Better by OVR
Liza H. from Beaver, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in September, 2015
From the moment we pulled onto the property, my family of 12 had a wonderful experience at Granary Lodge. We brought the food and drinks - the cabin had everything else we needed, including two refrigerators to hold our items. (We did bring the few soaps, etc. as directed in the rental agreement. The cabin was very clean.) The view was amazing, and we hiked around the property. It was safe and we felt comfortable with our two dogs. I had read other reviews about hunters on the property, but we didn't encounter anyone other than a lost group of renters. It rained during our stay, but we were plenty amused by the pool table and shuffleboard. Phone service was good and we could stream music. After getting home, I realized that I did not have my engagement ring and wedding band. After searching through all my bags and my family looking, I called OVR. Within 10 minutes, Jordan called me back and was already in her car heading over to the cabin. She found them! We made arrangements for me to pick them up later that week, and when I arrived she had even cleaned them! I can't thank OVR enough for a wonderful stay, and Jordan especially for going above and beyond to find and return my rings.

Great location and large home. We had 11 people and lots of rain but there was enough room to spread out. The lower level is definitely much cooler. My biggest complaint was the pond. Really wish there was a small dock to fish from. It was somewhat difficult to find an area without weeds, garbage, or snakes to cast from. Also a small mirror in the bathroom by the kitchen would have been useful. The view is fabulous and the layout of the home is nice. The ceiling in the main living space is gorgeous.

We had our wedding inside the home. We had the wedding upstairs and a dinner for 30, a tight fit but we made it work. Downstairs was amazing for just hanging out and we really appreciated the separate bar area. The bunk room was described as like being at summer camp everyone loved it. The property is just beautiful and so secluded. A very great experience and I would do it again!Suggestions...mirrors in the bedrooms and in the bathroom closest to the kitchen. It should be noted somewhere how the house is set up and that the main living area is actually the second floor. That impacted us a bit with someone who has mobility issues. The parking area had a little bit of litter but other than that the house was very clean. We loved all the lighting, the house really comes alive as the sun sets and it gets dark out. Everyone needs to step out onto the balcony and look up.....a sky filled with stars. Really special!

Even though this rental is very homey with a great view, the Granary is showing signs of wear. The dishwasher didn't work, at least one burner on the stove top would not work, the gameroom in the basement is quite cold, and the pool table was not level. Richard R. from Huntingtown, MD does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 4 days in November, 2014
Potential renters MUST know that half of the 600 acres is rented to Nimacolin Woodland Resort for Pheasant hunts from September through March. This is VERY popular; expect hunting parties congregating in the driveway and 12 guage shotgun blasts outside of 100 yds from the house during much of the day. Encountered lots of flys and wasps inside the house, but bug spray quickly got this under control. Inspite of numerous assurances from OVR, there is no WiFi at this location! Also, don't expect a returned email (0/3) or voicemail (0/4) from OVR - doesn't matter how long you wait, it won't happen.

The good:Property location was excellent and close to major attractions. The views from the house and privacy was fantastic. The house was clean. The bad:Water pressure was bad. Could not take 2 showers at a time. TV lost signal continually. One of the 2 refrigerators (closest to the sink did not cool, ran constantly and the door edges were very hot. Range is dated and cooktops crooked. Air conditioner cooled marginally on 2nd floor and lower level was freezing. Furniture was dated and dining table is so crooked that plates and glasses would slide off.The ugly:There was only 1 trash can provided with a lid. We called for trash pickup mid week but no one came or returned the call. Had to keep trash inside so the crows didn't scatter it. It seems like 3 or 4 trash cans with lids or trash pickup every 2-3 days would be reasonable for a house that sleeps 20 people.

Loved the property. It was exactly what we wanted. The only real complaints we had were-1. tons of dead flies all over the place (mainly all the window ledges) there is no way it was cleaned up recently. 2. We had a wedding there and they had a hunt on the property that day. A few of our guests turned around because they thought they were at the wrong spot because of the hunters and hunting dogs. 3. Dishes in the cabinets were not clean. It would be smart to provide dish washing tablets because it's obvious that people don't bring them but use the dishes/dishwasher anyways. Otherwise, everything was fine.

Granary lodge was a beautiful place. We had such a wonderful time there. I would have given it a 5 star rating, however on the second day we were there, there was a stranger on the property hunting. He said that he has the permission from the owner to hunt. I thought that was very strange and unsafe. Our outdoor playground is also this guy's hunting ground?? He had crossbow and guns, so we didn't argue and all went and hung out indoors. I hope the management group can better manage the schedule so his hunting time and our vacation time doesn't overlap. Most importantly, this is very dangerous for the guests. Having said that, everything else at this place was spectacular.

The other families in our group were very excited and almost immediately through out comments about how they wished we were staying longer and how the space was very well done and a great setting. We had a group of 20 and things went smoothly. The property was beautiful and the house itself was also very impressive. Excellent for entertaining many guests and plenty of room so no one felt cramped. Everything in the house worked well and was in great shape. No complaints here. We would go back any time.

The Hills are Alive
Linda O. from Indianapolis, IN recommends this property.
Stayed for 6 days in June, 2013
The Granary is a perfect getaway for a family or group. We were working in the area for a week and needed a place for a crew of 5 adults to stay. The house and property were a complete a very good way. The view from the knoll behind the barn is amazing. We dare you to walk up there alone and not end up humming "The hills are alive" from the Sound of Music. Deer, wild turkeys, rabbits and lots of other wildlife that city folk can't recognize by sound alone kept us company. One note: the fish in the pond were so happy to see food, that they jump on the hook and actually followed us as we walked around the edge. Overall, a very relaxing, easy place to spend a week. It made us feel like we had some work that interrupted a "vacation".

Amazing Property, but Booking was Extremely Frustrating
Reviewed by: Jessica W. recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in May, 2013
My husband and I have stayed at many of the OVR properties over the past few years and we have always had a great time. We wanted to return to the Granary for our anniversary because it is by far our favorite place to stay in Ohiopyle. This hasn't changed - the place is gorgeous and unique, as well as being wonderfully private, in a beautiful setting.Booking was a different story. The price displayed on the website was $395/night on weekends. When I received my paperwork, the price had changed to $425/night. I emailed the OVR rep, who replied and assured me that it was indeed $395/night, and not to worry. Then my card was charged the $425/night rate. When I emailed the rep again, I was asked where I saw the $395/night rate. I responded that I'd seen it ON THE WEBSITE, and I reminded him of our previous email exchange confirming this. I got a reply that said, "The website is wrong. The price is $425/night. What else can I help you with?" This was VERY frustrating, because okay, if the website is wrong, well, that's not my problem - I'll gladly pay the advertised price, but not more, ESPECIALLY not after I was assured that the price was indeed $395/night. Everything was straightened out eventually, and we did receive a discount for the hassle, but I have to say that it was really frustrating. In the past, we've always dealt with Tricia, who I assume is no longer with OVR. On several occasions, we've been looking for a quick weekend getaway and we've actually booked properties either the same day or only a couple of days in advance, because Tricia was so pleasant and easy to deal with. I don't think we'll be doing that again, because I can't imagine being able to arrange something last minute with the current management style, which is a real bummer.

A Great Time at Ohiopyle!!
Nina B. from Blairstown, NJ recommends this property.
Stayed for 5 days in April, 2013
Generally we had a great experience at the Granary. There were a few issues and we sent the rep. Jordan our concerns via text...she immediately replied to me (was happy with her response time). The inside of the home was beautiful and clean...the decorations made you feel very comfortable and welcome...we enjoyed the game room each evening...our daily adventures at Ohiopyle State park were amazing...beautiful, beautiful...going in April was a nice time because it was quiet...their prime season has not yet begun so some places were getting ready for the summer...not a problem for us....while we would definitely go there again, we wanted to mention what our concerns phone access (in the event our cell phones didn't work),they mentioned house was internet ready and it wasn't...we learned that their computer person was on vacation...they need to always have a backup for this was a big inconvenience for us...we couldn't look up simple things such as stores or what was the history of the farm (we found a milk bottle and would have loved to look up this information) We were disappointed that the pond was not stocked - a maintenance person thought that the pond was never stocked...family was not happy about that. Also winter debris should have been cleaned on the property prior to our arrival. Again, had a great time and we will probably use Ohiopyle Vacation Rentals again : )

Wasps!
Marshall P. from Arlington, VA does not recommend this property.
Stayed for 2 days in March, 2013
We spent most of the weekend trying to avoid the Wasps in the cabin. We had to sleep in the downstairs garage because the upstairs bedroom was infested. The garage that sleeps 10 was around 50 degrees, only heated with space heaters. When we asked for a partial refund, the owner refused and said it was mother nature, even though she admitted she had this problem in the past. RENTER BEWARE!

This was our second stay at this property. The only problem we had was an issue with wasps. Most were close to dead but we did deal with a couple dozen over the weekend. This place is very spacious with excellent accomodations for a large group. The shuffleboard and pool tables are great on-site entertainment. We will definitely considering staying at this property again!

We came from North Carolina, Virginia, Ohio and Indiana to gather for a Thanksgiving weekend. The place was perfect! It felt like a homestead that we all could call home. The setting is spectacular with an expansive view of the Laurel Highlands. The game room is amazing, too. I highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to 'getaway' and enjoy some quality family time.

A nice weekend get away
A guest from Kent, OH recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in September, 2012
Stayed at the Granary and went rafting with Laurel Highlands on September 28-30th, 2012. Laurel Highland Rafting was only about 15 minutes away from the cabin. The Granary is a beautiful cabin. The shuffle board and pool table are nice for entertaining. For the price we paid I did feel that toilet paper could have been supplied. Also, I hot tub would be another great addition. The old barn next to the property is very interesting and great to photograph. We had to kill about 15 wasps that were coming inside of the cabin; my father is allergic so this was a concern for us. The bunk beds were interesting; I did not have to sleep in that room so I did not mind having them :) Overall it was a good stay. Thank you.

A guest from Brooklyn, OH recommends this property.
Stayed for 2 days in September, 2012
The pictures and description on the website does not do this property justice. Its secluded location and amazing mountain views are the perfect backdrop for this cabin's country charm. We came to Ohiopyle to white water raft. Besides rafting we did not adventure out for anything else because we did not want to leave the property. The amenities were so great we had a blast just hanging out at the cabin. I and everyone in our group would highly recommend the Granary and do plan on visiting again soon.

The Granary was perfect. There were many out of state and out of counry guests which stayed at the Granery. The Wedding Rehearsal Dinner was held there with a BBQ. The Granery is a perfect, relaxing, country setting with immense privacy.... The whole experience was above and beyond. Our guests were from NZ and Austrailia, and the West Indies. All complimented the privacy and country home setting. Thank you so very much !!!!!!

Remco D. from Cincinnati, OH recommends this property.
Stayed for 4 days in August, 2012
Ohio pyle is in the middle of my family. So my brothers and I all congregated there last week end. From there we saw Kentuck knob and falling water, rode bicycles, and went rafting. The granary was a fine place to stay. we especially liked the shuffleboard and the pool table and the wide views on the top of the hill. The kitchen is under provided, could be better supplied. The bedroom without a window doesn't seem like a bedroom at all, And I really like the double wide garage/bunk room. It's a great place for a weekend but be sure you bring garbage bags and frying pans and cutting boards and knives and that sort of thing.

An "All-American" Weekend
A guest from Jefferson Hills, PA recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in May, 2012
This weekend trip was perfect for the bachelor party! The house was close to white water rafting, clay pigeon shooting, and natural water slides. When we weren't enjoying the outdoors (which was most of the time), our time was spent grilling/cooking, playing pool and shuffleboard. Everyone had their own bed to sleep in, which was a plus. The house was bigger and nicer than expected. Although the property does look like the pictures, the pictures don't do it justice. The house is beautiful and renting it was a breeze. We plan on renting this house again for years to come. I highly recommend The Granary.

A great place for a family reunion!!
A guest from Princeton, NJ recommends this property.
Stayed for 3 days in April, 2012
My family got together from Ohio and NJ here at the Granary to celebrate my father's 85th birthday. There was plenty to do in the house during the rainy days and plenty to do in the area for everyone. We have a wide range of ages & interests, so this was important. The place was beautiful! My brother knew how to work the Direct TV (you had to put it on the HDML-1 (I'm not sure I got those initials right) to make it work). We had a slight problem with one of the appliances (which is why I gave that section a 4) but it was rapidly fixed by the property management. The Granary is secluded, which we were extremely happy with and we loved the firepit for nightly entertainment. People fished and walked the land and took pictures and enjoyed spotting the pheasant coming up the road in the morning. Competitions on the pool table and skittleboard were fierce! And there were enough bathrooms for the family. We hope to make this an annual event to the Granary.
