Stayed for 2 days in February, 2013 TV cable was broken, DVD player not even hooked up, VCR took a bunch of fiddling to figure out how to get it working. It would have been nice to know that a service was going to plow the driveway (they did, we just did not realize it). Weekend Stay A guest from Pleasanton, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2013 Our attraction to this cabin was that it was dog-friendly. There is a fenced in yard where we could let our dog out to do his business which was a nice perk. The cabin has lots of bowls and toys just as advertised.The cabin was not in spotless condition but was still very clean. I gave only four stars for this, but maybe I have super high standards??!! Also, the wood for the wood-burning stove was stacked underneath the deck rather than in the rack on the deck. I had to make my own kindling and split some of the logs to make fires. One note: the driveway to the cabin is a long and steep slope, which could make access during snows dicey. It was dry when we came, but I could see where there could be an issue. Overall, the place was nice and came as advertised. The deck is really large and has a nice view overlooking the trees, and the carpet inside is plush. I would definitely recommend to a small family looking for a dog-friendly cabin in Dorrington. Great retreat, dog friendly Lauren T. from Livermore, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in November, 2012 We spent Thanksgiving weekend at the Topanga Treehouse. We had a wonderful time, and the dogs loved it too. I also enjoyed the small town tree lighting ceremony we attended at the Dorrington Hotel. Overall, the trip was great. Stayed for 3 days in February, 2012 Apart from the key pick-up instructions being sent after we had left for the mountains, we found the cabin quite comfortable for 4 people. Topanga Treehouse - not good for hot summer nights A guest from Los Gatos, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2011 Big Trees is a great place. However, the Topanga Treehouse really heats up at night - the place seems to hold its heat no matter how many windows and doors you open and fans you run. It was easily more than 15/20 degrees hotter inside than outside at night. We went to friend's places in Big Trees that did not heat up like this at night. During the day - its OK since we go out and enjoy the area. However at night its awful. Only 1 fan was supplied; we had to buy fans and all sleep in the living room since the bedrooms was like ovens. It was about 75 outside at night, but over 90 inside! Might be OK for Fall/Winter/Spring stays - but certainly not for summer.
