Casa Flora is a romantic apartment of 32 square meters (345 square feet), for
two people. It is part of an ancient stone house, and it has a patio as well as
a shared swimming pool and a park of 4000 square meters (1 acre).
It is part of a farmhouse located on the hillside, 300 meters (980 feet) above
the sea level.
You will be in the heart of the Tuscan countryside, at 50 km (30 miles) from
Florence and at 20 km (12 miles) from Siena, amongst the hills where the Chianti
wine is produced.
You will find some of the most famous villages of Tuscany, such as San
Gimignano, Monteriggioni, Colle Val D'Elsa, at a short distance.
Casa Flora is located on the first floor: once you enter from the patio a
stairway will take you upstairs. Here you will enter the kitchen, where you will
also find a dining table. From the kitchen you will be able to reach the bedroom
with a double bed and the bathroom with shower.
The patio is a long and spacious terrace with a view of the valley and of the
pool; the doors to three apartments open from here. Each apartment has its own
reserved space equipped with table, chairs, deckchairs and beach umbrella.
Perfect to dine outdoors!
The kitchen is equipped with four-burner cooker, oven and refrigerator with
freezer. A laundry room is available.
The furnishings have been taken care of in all details, and are in the
characteristic style of the Tuscan countryside.
You will find ancient floors tiled with terracotta tiles, and ceilings made of
wood beams and terracotta flat tiles.
In the garden you will find a barbecue and a wood-burning oven, shared with the
other guests.
Casa Flora is equipped with heating, satellite television and telephone, and
there is parking space.
You will be able to buy the produce of the estate: Chianti wine and extra virgin
olive oil.
The swimming pool
You will have at your disposal a nice swimming pool of 14 x 7 meters (46 x 23
feet). The pool is surrounded by a lawn and equipped with deckchairs and beach
umbrellas. Access to the pool is shared with the guests of three other small
apartments.
Lying by the pool you will be able to enjoy a beautiful and wide view of the
gently sloping surrounding hills.
The location
At Casa Flora you will live your vacation in a place which has an ancient and
fascinating history.
Casa Flora is one of four small refurbished apartments that are connected to a
small church built in 1200.
The church and the adjoining rooms in the beginning used to be a parish.
There were the house of the local priest, cellars and storage rooms, and rooms
where pilgrims going to Rome could sleep.
Indeed, in this area of Tuscany (called Val D'Elsa), there was the ancient "Via
Franchigena", the official pilgrimage road that pilgrims from everywhere in
Europe would take to reach Rome. It used to be one of the main communication
routes in the medieval world. Many similar country churches were built along
this road, and they are still called "Pievi".
These ancient parishes served both as a religious center and a meeting point for
the locals. For this reason, next to the churches you will often find a village
or at least a small bunch of ancient houses.
At Casa Flora you will be able to see by yourself how actual this ancient
history still is.
The church is built on a higher ground than the surrounding area. When you
arrive you will be able to spot the refined building from a distance, with its
round apsis made of stone and bricks and the tower with its elegant twin lancet
window, where the bells are hosted.
The entire complex has been lovingly restored, reusing the ancient building
materials: it will take only a moment to feel brought back to the atmosphere of
times now gone.
The nice building of stone and red bricks, the green lawn that surrounds it, the
blooming hedges, the wide horizon of gentle hills that fade into blue at a
distance: everything will convey a feeling of peace and well-being, and you will
be happy to be part of this place for the length of your stay!
The restored apartments overlook the side of the church that faces the hills,
and have a view of the large swimming pool, located a few steps below.
The church can be visited. Perfectly restored, it hosts a reception hall where
the owners greet their guests.
Not far from the church you will also find a small hamlet made of stone houses.

Staying at Casa Flora you will find yourself in the heart of the Tuscan
countryside, 5 km (3 miles) from Colle Val D'Elsa, which is famous for the
production of crystal items.
This is the closest town that offers shops, restaurants, supermarkets, banks,
tennis courts, golf field and bicycle rental.
You will be close to the art cities of Siena, Florence and Pisa, and close to
the most characteristic Tuscan villages, beginning with San Gimignano, the town
of the 100 towers, and Monteriggioni, the medieval village surrounded by ancient
walls.
Don't miss the opportunity to drive along the Via Chiantigiana, which is the
road that crosses the Chianti wine production area.
Along this road, edged on the left and on the right by rows of vines, you will
