Vacation Apartment in Celle - 193 sqft, Spanish tiles and wood create a nice atmosphere, nature-like… #643
A large chestnut tree, which is the heart of our plot and stretches tall and proud in the courtyard, casts its shadow over our guesthouse, a former one-class schoolhouse, in the evening. The guest house has two separate terraces oriented in South-East direction, so that you can always choose between sunshine and shadow., key advantages: Spanish tiles and wood create a nice atmosphere, nature-like garden, fully equipped kitchen, clean, well furnished, very comfortable, makes you feel at home, bright and inviting, The unit is located near the edge of the village,
The apartment – well, the room – is located in the main house, which is inhabited by ourselves. It has its own separate entrance, which is reached via a small terrace in the garden. The room has, by the way, always been known as the Rose Room, because of the wonderful rose bushes in front of the windows, the scent of which fills the entire room when they are in bloom.
The bright, southwest-facing room is approx 194 square feet and is furnished mostly in white. The large windows and the glass door let in a lot of light, but you can also lock it out using the blinds. In the summer, a large awning in front of the door and windows keeps the space nicely cool. Of course, you also have satellite TV, radio and complimentary wireless internet access in your Rose Empire.
The small bathroom is equipped with a shower, toilet and wash basin. A fan provides the necessary air flow and floor heating gives nice warmth.
The small kitchenette is well equipped with a round sink, 2-ring ceran stove top, fridge and microwave with grill function. The kitchen is fully furnished, of course.
You can stow away your suitcases in the big bed frame of the relatively high French bed (1.40 m wide and 2.00 m long). The cozy bed will leave you to wonderful dreams, and when you wake up in the morning, you have an unobstructed view of the countryside. Oh, and outside your room, a small stream gurgles towards the swimming pond.
The Property:
The property is characterized by a large chestnut tree, which is the heart of our grounds and stretches tall and proud in the courtyard.
It is surrounded by a nature-like garden. Lively birds inhabit the many trees and shrubs, three ponds provide sufficient living space for frogs and small animals, and in summer a cool space for courageous bipeds; it is awash with dragonflies and newts, in August you can watch fireflies and bats.
You'll be sharing the great nature site with us all - us being Silvy and Felix Krahnstöver, our dogs Barney and Josy, cats Mimi and Luka, the rabbit Maxi, Anton (fat goldfish with several unnamed friends), the pair of Mandarin ducks Gustl and Daisy, the rooster Paul with his ten hard-working girls (they have their own villa, and of course their own names!) and countless other creatures that inhabit the land.

Our Village:
Ask a local in Celle where Alvern is, and he will probably be at a loss. That’s how “well-known” our little village is. It’s not surprising, because there’s not much here – but there’s lots of nature.
What some couldn’t care less about is other people’s treasure. If you are one of the latter, a visit will be worth it. Sleep with open window, and you can hear the hedgehog feed, listen to the owls and night birds, and let the birds’ chirping wake you up in the morning.
Alvern consists of the creek of the same name, flowing along the village’s alleyway, several ponds, a farmstead in operation, some 40 houses on five streets, approx. 190 inhabitants, of which 30 are children, some 25 dogs and as many cats, as well as a few horses.
Where traffic is concerned, Alvern is a dead end. So, there is no traffic through the village, but there is a bus stop. It’s only 8 km to Celle by car, and a bit less by bike. Lots of bike and hike trails go through the forests and meadows around the village. It is also a great area for inline skating with well-maintained quiet roads and bike paths.
Bike Rental:
Flat land and bicycles go together very nicely – although the legs may tell you that things are not quite (as flat) as the eyes see it. If you want to pedal and experience what stays hidden when only driving around in the car, we offer different kinds of bikes.
City Bike
With the city bike (EUR 5 per day), you can explore the area nicely, ride into the neighboring places for dinner (it’s only 8 km to Celle), or whatever else you fancy.
E-Bike
If you could very well do with less physical exertion or if biking is too exhausting for you for medical reasons, you should try the so-called Pedelec electric bike (EUR 15 per day), on which an electric motor supports your pedaling. Riding a bike thus becomes a true pleasure, without any beads of sweat.
Folding Bike
Do you want to use Alvern as starting point to explore the cities in the vicinity (Hannover, Braunschweig, Hamburg, etc.), we also offer folding bikes (EUR 5 per day), which have been of great service to us already, too. They are easy to put into the car trunk, fold up with a few twists, and open all new views of the big city.
Note: only two bikes of each of those types are available.
