The sliding door in the downstairs bathroom was off the track and would not close. The fan in the upstairs bathroom sounded like a dying jet engine. The toaster did not work. The barbeque only works by turning on and off the gas - no heat adjustments. The lights in the main dining room are mostly burned out. The mattresses are shot and sag to the middle. The hot water setting lasts for 2 showers in a unit for 10 people. The jacuzzi was not in service at the property. I would appreciate at least a partial refund or credit. I called the manager twice to inform him that a blown fuse was not involved and we need it repaired ASAP. He did not return my call to fix the issue. I spent my birthday with my friends in the dark. You get what you pay for A guest from Rolling Hills Estates, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 4 days in December, 2009 After perusing many listings, this one accomodated our party for a reasonable price. Many of the listings which accomodate large parties are outrageously high over the holidays. That being said, we found a few things not quite up to standards. While taking showers, the temperature of the water could change at any moment from freezing cold to boiling hot. The heating system was jerry-rigged (sp?) and thank heaven my brother-in-law figured out a way to get the heat going or we would have slept in our ski jackets that first night. Since we had no heat at first, we lit a fire. Although the flu was open, the smoke saturated the entire unit. I was worried about the boys sleeping in the loft and breathing in all that smoky air. I opened the window in the loft, even though it was going to be cold. Thank heaven there were extra blankets! All our clothes and hair smelled of smoke the next day. As for the cleaning service, as we were checking under our bed to make sure we hadn't left anything, we found a pair of underwear apparently left by the prior guest! YUK!! We also found a sock belonging to the prior guest, as well. The closet doors in several of the bedrooms were broken and one of the downstairs bedrooms got exceptionally hot. I love the decor, I feel like the owners must travel a lot and enjoyed the pieces they have brought back from all over the world. The only tiny downside was that the kitchen was ever so slightly smaller and ever so slightly less equipped but that's not saying much as the kitchen in #52 is AMAZINGLY well equipped with anything you could possibly need. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2008 We stayed at a Carnelian Bay Rental Home the year before and we're very pleased. this time we did not have the same reaction. Although the location was wonderful, some things in the home must be fixed in order for us to recommend it to others. After removing some of the bed sheets we found bed bugs on the mattress. One of the queen mattress (the tiger room) has a broken mattress box and the steel frame has a clamp that does not work and the mattress drops down we had to fix it.The dishwasher did not clean properly.The bathroom upstairs, the whole house could hear the flushing of the toilet and it has very noisy and loud exhaust fan. The bathroom downstairs had no working exhaust fan and the bathtub drain was very slow. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2008 Light bulbs burnt out so we purchased some new ones.TV's in bedrooms were missing most cables so no VCR or DVD's worked in any room but main room.curtains in main living room were brokencurtains in downstairs back room were brokenshades/blinds in first room on right were broken/missing so we hung a blanket to block view of people looking in.The bathtub water doesn't drain (standing in water whole shower).Most of the beds were in really bad shape (box spring/mattress sag) which gave most there not a good night sleep, compared to #21, which had really good beds.2nd floor queen bed frame actually came apart every night and we had to fix often. The box spring and bed there also sags so bad that we considered bringing in an air mattress.Both #21 and #24 UPRIGHT vacuums didn't work. They turned on but no brush spinning to pick things up. We did find a wand-type (white) vacuum in #24 that we used to clean up.I know the condo's there aren't the most expensive there on the lake so I understand the price-point we were in, but the general lighting, look, feel, of #24 was kind of the cheap hotel type. You know, dated stuff, dark, bad lighting, carpet not fitting in rooms, sheetrock damage in corners, small water heater with not much hot water for sleeping 10+ people. Walkway never shoveled so it got pretty dangerous as the week went on. Wish parking passes could have been left for us. It took 3 tries to get them as we left for skiing early. One double bed on the main room area was pretty bad and the plastic mattress cover made it pretty hot to sleep on. But number of rooms and set up were fantasic. Also could have used a vegetable peeler. We were coming from across the country and couldn't bring things like that with us. All and all we had a great trip. Location was very good. The response of the super was quick but the knowledge was limited. Fortunately it was just the reset button and it started working.
