Great location and staff, needs help with recreation equipment A guest from EVANSTON, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2013 Our family of five stayed in a great unit with a gorgeous view. It happened to be one of the coldest weeks ever, but that didn't keep us from having fun. Unfortunately our unit had a musty/moldy smell right when you walk in the door, the phone didn't work and no one came to repair it once we reported it. The recreation hut staff were very nice, but completely under-resourced, esp during cold weather conditions. It was in the 60s and windy so no one was hanging out at the pools/beach. Several times when we went to the hut to borrow equipment, we had to wait more than 15 mins while the lone employee dealt with other customers. The rec hut had NO BICYCLES available the entire time we were there. We checked in and were disappointed every day b/c the bikes were checked out for 1-2 weeks at a time. Finally, we decided to try kayaking in the bay. It was too dangerous, but the nice guy at the rec hut didn't seem to have any choice but to "do what the guest wants". We didn't know any better since we had never been there before. After we paid, we got on the water and lasted less than 30 minutes before we decided to pack it in and spare everyone a Coast Guard rescue. Suggestions--1) Keep the nice, capable staff, but get them a better, more efficient system for renting equipment to speed up the process. No one wants to spend their vacation standing in line. 2) Only allow bicycle rentals for one day at a time and have more bicycles to rent as they are great during hot and cold weather. 3) Don't allow rentals of water recreation equipment when conditions aren't safe as determined by experienced staff. 4) The Rec Hut needs a big sign of all the great things people can do on the Island during all kinds of weather so guests don't only think that the beach and pool are their sole options. The Rec Hut could be a great resource for guests, but it needs some thoughtful resources put into it.Finally, the staff, location and beauty of Palm Island is terrific		Overall Satisfacation show detailed scores Services from rental manager Cleanliness Location Property Condition

OK Stay A guest from Kingston, IL recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in July, 2012 We were a bit disappointed in the decor of the condo. The cabinets were originals as well as the wallpaper. (Some had been painted and the wallpaper was peeling in many spots). The air conditioner was not working and repair had to be called two of the three days we were there. All appliances were new--a bonus. However, throw rugs in all baths and kitchen were not clean, and there was blood on the sheets. Carpet was worn and there were tiny ants in the kitchen and family room. There was no TV in the master bedroom. The view was spectacular. Although clean, it was outdated and needed a lot of TLC. The staff was excellent and very attentive. I'd love to return, but with a newer unit.
