Awesome Beach Getaway A guest from Cape Coral, FL recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in August, 2012 This place was a treasure to find. We have lived in Florida for almost 20 years and never heard of the island (and we only live one hour south of it). Our family and friends had a wonderful time relaxing on the island, playing tennis, going to the beach, and driving the golf carts. We collected many shells that I brought back with us and keep on my desk at work and at home to remind me of the wonderful time we had. We almost don't want to let the secret out about this place. Still Having Nightmares About It A guest from New York, NJ does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in September, 2011 What a disaster. The land that time forgot. No cell phone service or poor service. Only one restaurant that did NOT do breakfast. Coffee and a cookie just doesn't cut it first thing in the morning, especially for an establishment that claims to be a resort. Rooms were pleasant but dated, with twin beds more appropriate for children. Had to rely on guys to pick us up in golf carts to get around the island. Call for a pick up... one in three chance your call would go through. We're supposed to bring our own food? Give me a break... I don't think so. The "general store" was more of a gift shop and there wasn't much food. Plenty of bait... you could eat well if you are a fish. Was very happy to leave; at least I could make a call or eat when I wanted to. Like being stranded on Gilligan's Island only worse; somehow I'm sure they would have figured out a way to make a cell phone call. No phone service so I could not access bellman. I eventually had to rent a golf cart. This was my fourth stay at the resort. This stay was not good especially since I had bragged tot he group about my prior visits. The unit needs screen repair, shower water ran out directly onto the ground below the unit. The carpet upon entering was badly stained and wet when we arrived. Sadly, I was very unhappy with this visit. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2009 My husband, friends, and I have stayed at Palm Island Resort and at times at private residences for a number of years and found it to be just as beautiful as always.I was upset only that my reservation seemed to have gotten mixed up. My mom and dad got put into one room by the pool area that I'm used to staying at but it wasn't the three bedroom I had requested. Then, when they rented a golf cart they were told it had to be returned by 11 am on Saturday and we had made these reservations two months ahead of time. I was embarassed. They arrived before us and had never been there before and I wanted it to be perfect-it was her 60th birthday party.It all got straightened out, except we weren't in the newer area with the pool right there and I know there is a 2 bedroom loft condo because we've stayed in 1 or 2 of them. We had a great time at Rum Bay and enjoyed the live music. Sanibel has nothing on Palm Island when it comes to shelling!The condo was good. Vicki Junk-Wright's artwork was awesome-I wonder why her stationery isn't in the little shop-seems a good fit.Anyhow, we'll see you again soon. I will always recommend Palm Island Resort to my friends-most of my friends go there once or twice a year anyhow, but just advise to double check the reservations and golf cart availability.
