The only inconvenience we had was that the stove was not working properly and had to call for maintenance. They took care of the problem quickly. The dishwasher was not connected to the counter and tipped out dangerously close to my foot. The maintenance man did fix that.The place was clean and well stocked with towels. The weather wasn't the greatest but the view of the ocean and the solitude of the resort was beyond our expectations. We cruised the island on our golf cart and just enjoyed the time we were able to spend together. We went to Rum Bay for dinner which was ok. The service was great and the overall staff were helpful and friendly. I would recommend this to anyone looking to get away from the normal hustle and bustle. However, this is the 2nd time we have stayed in this unit and it is in desperate need of a makeover. The carpet is old and should be replaced with tile. The kitchen counters and cabinets are the original outdated formica and not attractive. The furniture was fine, but the other things gave it an unclean feel. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2011 We have made Palm Island an annual destination for many years because, quite frankly, we can't think of a more relaxing place to stay! This year however, we were first shown to a unit that had a bad smell even though it appeared clean. When they sent housekeeping (Jessica and Christie) to check it out, they agreed that we should find another room, and immediatelt set out to find a substitute. The second room was beautiful, and they were so eager to rectify the situation that it turned an "Oh no!" into an "Oh yes!"The next morning my sister and I were taking the golf cart down to the end of the island when it conked out on us suddenly. Fortunately, we were right in front of the Coconuts store, and when we went in and reported the problem, Maggie worked quickly to switch things around (even thought they were fully booked) to get us a replacement...and we were on our way in no time! Things are bound to happen when you travel, but how they are handled is so crucial to the overall success of a vacation; and the pleasant, positive attitude of the staff at Palm Island reminded us again why we keep going back! We've been coming to Palm Island for 14 years and love it. However, we have noticed the rooms are not as cared for as in previo Michele G. from Lutz, FL recommends this property. There were a few concerns worth noting though:1.We had a group of 10 people staying above us (2 families) which was very loud with thin floors. Not good!2.I wish it were possible to get people out to the beautiful beach by golf cart if they can't walk well.3.Pave the parking lot-my car was trashed after our stay.4.The beach is what makes this place so wonderful!!
