Great get away! Colleen G. from Webster, NY recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in March, 2013 Came to Palm Island resort for a wedding. Unit was very nice. Pros - beach, restaurant bar within walking distance, great staff, beautiful grounds. Cons - cockroach in second bedroom, master bedroom bed was horrible, ants on kitchen counter, living rug is very worn. Housekeeping took care of ants and cockroach, hopefully owners will invest in a new bed and rug. Just because here were a few minor glitches, We would come back again for a short stay. The staff for the resort are great people to deal with. If you live in Fl. and want a close getaway with that far away island feel, this is the place. Also had ant problem for which extermnator came right over to place traps. Did not like being in front of the pool though could slightly see ocean behind it. While I was welcomed upon arrival by the front end staff, I felt as though when I asked questions I was inconveniencing them. A little more patience with a first time guest please.The same held true for when I picked up my golf cart. No hello, no how are you...just "last name?"All in all I enjoyed my stay and the villa was perfect for my family's needs. I'll be back but hope the front desk staff has more patience and keeps the smile on their faces. We were welcomed with early check-in, and upon arrival to our unit, greeted by Debbie Curtis, the concierge, with a celebratory bottle of wine. Sounds like a great start to a 4 day weekend; however this is where our trip took a turn for the worse. After settling into our room, we noticed a strong mold odor; it was even visible on the decorative plants. We had hoped if we aired the room out, the smell would dissipate. We spent the majority of our stay outdoors in order to avoid our mold ridden accommodations. I wish I would have spoken up sooner; however the inconvenience of moving rooms after unpacking and settling seemed worse than staying in the room at first. As our trip was ending, my husband and I, whom suffer from allergies, were both so congested and miserable we left immediately. Upon returning home, we called to inform the staff about our accommodations and were told, "Sorry, but I wish you would have told us sooner." We were never even offered compensation for our disappointing birthday weekend. I have never been in such a rush to go back home from a vacation!
