Carpet filthy! Primitive fridge with no ice machine! Furnishings dirty and in need of replacement or cleaning. Bedspread dirty, stove fan broken, family room fan missing a piece. Reported all to front desk. Very disappointed we weren't not put into a nicer unit as repeat customers! Unit not worth the price!!!! The staff was very friendly. The room was extremely clean and well stocked. We had read reveiws about how many shells were on the beach, but no comments can prepare you for how MANY shells there are; so many beautiful colors and kinds that you can literally "hunt" for hours in a 100 yard section. Since cars aren't allowed in the resort it was very quite and slow paced. Would absolutely come back again for a couples weekend but will probably have to bring the kids next time after they saw all of the shells. It is a wonderful place to experience. The food, however, is below average at the restaurant on the Island and Leverocks. I don't see how the restaurant can advertise their famous ribs and then serve you dry, boring, not very good ribs. Very dissappointing. Everything else, however, is amazing. I just love the pool. We had to drop the thermostat the to low 70's to keep the bedroom somewhat cool. The unit need some wall repair work around the washer/dryer and paint. The dryer did not heat. Not sure if this problem might have been operator error. Palm Island Resort is a unique property. The best combination of beach and number of people I have ever found. We will return! We found the people in the office to be very accommodating...we had a couple little problems and they were taken care of immediately with a really good attitude and response. The unit we were in was very clean but not updated (the furniture was old). We felt that the property was also very well maintained and clean. The ONLY big disappointment was the sheets! They looked like they were homemade...very old and tired! They were limp....... actually "pilled" from too much wear and not even ironed! I requested another set and they were exactly the same! I would love to see you invest in new sheets for the units! Having a good night's sleep on quality sheets would be a treat! The only glitch was when the air-conditioning went out in our unit and the indoor temperature shot up. Luckily, there was a place to put us for the night so we traipsed several buildings over in our pajamas and went to sleep. Packing the next morning was brutal with no A/C so we wore bathing suits to get the job done. And will we go back? Absolutely. Even mechanical failure cannot keep us away.
