Everything was wonderful, from the beautiful home inside to the beautiful outside. the home was stocked with even bird seed and food for the squirrels. Wald Haus is a perfect place for friends to getaway A guest from gaithersburg, maryland recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2013 This house is really great and I would definitely recommend it to other renters. The check in and check out process was easy. I came with 8 adults and there was plenty of space. Its about a 2 minute drive to Timberline Ski and a 5 minute drive to Canaan Valley Ski. The fireplace was great after the slopes and the house was stocked with enough firewood to last for days. The kitchen was nice and well stocked. I loved the deck and the floor to ceiling windows looking out from the living room.The driveway is a bit steep and the roads can be icy, so they are serious about the 4 wheel drive requirement, but I found from experience that if there are members of your group driving separately with no 4 wheel drive, there is a parking lot by the main gate (but they will have to be picked up and driven to the actual house).The only thing that I did not like about this house was the decor, but I suppose that is just personal preference. It's a beautiful, private property on a heavily treed hillside. Convenient to Canaan Valley SP or Refuge (10 min), Davis, Thomas, Blackwater Falls SP (25 min), Dolly Sods (40 min) and more. Everything was essentially as described, except we initially had no internet service (resolved quickly after mentioning it to the folks in the office). Home is clean and comfortable. We trailered our bikes there to ride WV roads and due to the location we couldn't get the trailer down the driveway - but it was no problem. The guards were happy to let us place the trailer at the gate; can't ask for better security than that. Donna and her team are beyond professional and accommodating - they helped with check-in and check-out to the needs of our schedule and are more like friends than just property managers. The house itself was spacious, secluded and calm - perfect getaway for up to 8 people. We will definitely come back every Summer! The property is situated in the woods, which we really enjoyed. It did not have a mountain view, but we have found in the past that a high elevation meant a long drive every time you leave and come back to the property. We found this location perfect for us.Since we arrived in the evening and left early, we never personally met the property management company. It did feel a little odd using the convenience store next door for key drop off and pick up.
