Following "Place Under the Sun", "THE GUARDIAN" published an article called "20 FANTASTIC FAMILY HOLIDAY VILLAS", choosing them out of tens of thousands of villas from all over Europe. Casa Heidi is in it. This is the article's last sentence: "A GLORIOUS RETREAT FOR FAMILIES OR FRIENDS, there's also oodles of space for kids to roam".
We built his new house with only one thing in our mind: to relax and to spoil our senses during our own retreats, following long and stressful months in the city. Maybe the fact that I am an art academy graduate did "affect" its design, features, its feeling, but again, obtaining maximal coziness was the ultimate goal. The villa's great location in the village as well the village's stunning landscape and its proximity to Transylvania's most exciting sites (see house website for more details), is what you will also enjoy a lot.
Take the mountain creek passing by the house, the fact that there is no bedroom without its own en-suite bathroom, that you will Never share the house with anybody beyond your own firnds / family, the incredible landscapes during walks starting and finishing at the house, the abundant presence of warm colors used inside the villa, the fabulous view from the double Jacuzzi located in the roof attic between two large windows overlooking the Carpathian Mountains, the orange and lime green pure cotton bedding and towels which come from our favorite producer, the pillows and the eiderdowns, filled with natural down, the extremely comfortable mattresses(we suffer from back pain but these mattresses are a treat), the thermostatic taps installed in all shower cabins, the timer-ed and efficient electric bathroom heaters, the fully equipped kitchen (not just a few basics to make it look like one), etc. These and many other features speak for what the main goal behind this villa has been: NOT just to be super-functional, but to supply pleasure to all senses, comfort, relaxation, peace of mind.
We have always asked for feed back from our "most spoiled" guests' - from Switzerland, France, Austria the UK, New Zealand or the U.S., trying to find out what they felt could be improved and for quite some time now...no suggestions. That is maybe because this house was planned by us, initially just for us and not as an improvised instant money-making source. For many years we gathered our ideas, designs and objects from all over the world, combining them with traditional Transylvanian furniture and objects. All this to obtain our simply-sofisticated, rural-modern, rugged-elegant and cozy dream-mountain-vacation-house.
