Unobstructed ocean and beach views from rear deck, living room, kitchen and hot tub makes one forget city life; private English country style garden provides a sanctuary for birds. Cook a meal on the gas BBQ while you enjoy watching the waves crash on the shore and the sounds of the Pacific Ocean. Or, slip onto the padded bay-window seat with a cup of coffee, a cozy fire, and watch a storm roll in. DVD, VCR, and satellite TV are available in the living room and master bedroom (queen bed and canopy).
Cook a holiday meal in the convection oven and/or the gas range while you watch the tide roll in and out. The dining room is one my favorite spots in the cottage since it offers views of both the garden and the ocean. Close off the den from the rest of the house and enjoy a good book or take a nap on the comfy couch. The loft has a queen bed with a sky-light and views of the ocean and hilly ranch land to the east. This unique ocean-front property is a 3-minute walk to the beach.

Been vacationing here for years A guest from Sonoma, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2013 For many years twice a year my old roommates and I stay at cliff cottage. This last visit was wonderful but there are a few things you should know. The fireplace is now out of order, a bit of a disappointment. There are ants that show up in the darnedest places and the gate blows open in the wind. With that said, this house will continue to be the best rental at the beach. We love it ! |

Not "The Birds" but "ANTS" Michael O. from Elk, WA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2013 Hot tub, (inop for two days), Property Management,(put us on "HOLD" twice when we tried to contact them), Electronics, (had to plug in equipment in a forest of wires to make it work), Kitchen, (does NOT have to be an "organic" experience.) With ANY downtime a bit of fumigation would help the guest and keep the kitchen from being "OVERRUN" by ants. Not just the kitchen is involved. When we got home, we noticed quite a few "hitch hikers" came along in our bags. These bags were never opened in the kitchen, only opened in the master bedroom. This would indicate that the ants are pervasive in the Cliff Cottage. Guests are cautioned not to leave food out in the kitchen, but it doesn't really matter. They are all over the place no matter how perfectly you clean up before you go to bed. We have actually stayed in tents with less of a bug problem. Fun time at the Beach though. |

The owner's don't seem to care about their guests A guest from Sacramento, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 3 days in March, 2013 After staying at Fox Kit Cottage right down the road last year, we were very disappointed in Cliff Cottage. Although the view is amazing and the house is bigger, the house isn't set up well as a rental property. These are the reasons why:The owners provide one towel per guest for three days use. Once you get in the spa and use your towel, you are now expected to use the same towel to dry off after your shower. There are ant poison boxes all over the kitchen counters and the ants come no matter how clean you keep the counters and keep your food hidden away in the fridge. The kitchen drawers are messy and dirty and not well stocked - example no crab crackers. The hot pads are dirty and their is hair and crumbs inside the drawers. There are no DVDs on site or extra blankets/sheets.Stay at Fox Kit instead. Fox Kit is clean, the kitchen has every pan/bowl/gadget you would need to prepare a great meal. The owners have provided an ample supply of towels and nice white spa robes. Yes, Kit Cottage is smaller, but it is clean and comfortable. These owners seem to care about providing what their guests will need to have a great vacation. I love Bodega Bay Escapes staff - they are helpful and knowledgeable. I will use them again, but we will not return to Cliff Cottage. These owners seem very cheap!!! |

Fantastic Vacation A guest from Fort Wayne, IN recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2012 The views from this property are amazing and there is nothing like watching a Pacific sunset. We saw several kinds of birds and the hummingbirds were enjoying the many flowers still in bloom on the property. We kept the back door open to hear the sounds of the surf or sat on the deck; each day we saw several fishing boats going up and down the coast. For easy beach access we choose the quick 5 min drive to Wrights Beach. We ate most of our meals at the house and the kitchen had all that we needed. We would certainly love to stay at this property again. |

Unfortunately, this time we had ants! The view and deck are great! Not to be picky, but, we couldn't get the Giants on their limited basic cable. After all it is the SF Giants! |

Family Getaway John and Lisa C. from Modesto, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in July, 2012 The house on cliff cottage is so much larger than the pictures portay. Awesome views of ocean from both inside the house and especially from the deck. We cooked a lot from the house and were pleased with all appliances and cookware! Master bedroom is located nicely in house and loft is a pleasant surprise. Really enjoyed the house located in a peaceful neighborhood and with so many beaches conveniently located nearby. |

Wonderful escape! Angelina D. from Westminster, CO recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in July, 2012 We are always a bit leary upon arrival when it comes to a new rental, just not sure what to expect. When we opened the front gate there was instant gratification! And Only got better from there, it was everything we excpected and more! The views were spectacular!! The home soo cozy, the beds soo comfortable, love love loved it! It was a bit chilly in Bodega but nice weather over all. In colorado if you dont like the weather wait 10min, In Bodega, drive 10min. In such a short distance you have a 20° difference in weather, with a variety of things to do: country drive, redwoods, wine country, but ohh so nice to drive back to cliff cottage a quiet peaceful seren place to was hard to leave. We cant wait to go back with our kiddos. |

Cleanliness of the house/condition of L/R furniture Lynn B. from Santa Rosa, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in June, 2012 I have been staying at this property since the mid 1980's and have always loved being there. This time the overall cleanliness of the property was disappointing. The BBQ was very dirty, the kitchen counters/cabinets were not properly cleaned and the dirt under the furniture was so thick that you felt the whole house was not properly taken care of. There were also a lot of large spiders thru out the house. This house is in such a beautiful location and the rental cost is high and so the house should be in top shape for people to enjoy. The living room couch's needs to be replaced instead of covered up. |

Cliff Cottage Erin C. from Healdsburg, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2012 Everything was great - we had fabulous weather! The only thing I would ask is that the owners upgrade their cookware, it's pretty shabby and worn out and made it easy to burn things. A couple hundred dollars worth of new pots and pans would make all the difference on the quality of the experience. |

Cliff Cottage A guest from Los Altos, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2012 Cliff Cottage has all of the elements for a fantastic getaway -- great location, beautiful ocean views, comfortable furnishings and a great floorplan. Unfortunately, the ant problem has the potential of detracting from all of this greatness. The ant problem is real and it takes only one or two days of food in the house to bring them out (and we were very neat and tidy). I think the owner really owes it to guests who are paying a premium to stay there to put some money into getting rid of the ants. I would love to stay there again but have to say that I would hesitate for more than 2 or 3 days. Property is otherwise clean and tidy, but a few updates would go a long way. |

Great Place Joe S. from Bethesda, MD recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in March, 2012 Absolutey loved the place. The only reason this does not get 5 stars was the ants, which were pretty extensive. By the last day they were in the refrigerator. Might help to have a disposal and a broom available. That said, I will probably rent it again (maybe soon). |

Wonderful Rental; Wonderful Rental Managent Company A guest from Mill Valley, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in January, 2012 We had a great experience with our vacation rental. The cottage we rented was charming and perfect for our long weekend. We thought the house was well-stocked and we had everything we needed. The management company was great, accommodating our early arrival and late checkout. In addition, when our oven wasn't operating correctly, they sent someone to look at it right away. When it couldn't be fixed, they gave us a key to the rental next door so that we could use the oven next door. I REALLY appreciated this gesture, without any suggestion from us. Great weekend all around! |

beautiful house just not well kept A guest from Cottonwood, CA does not recommend this property. Stayed for 2 days in December, 2011 We rented this home for New Year's with friends & upon renting it, it was advertised as 1 bedroom with loft, and 2 baths. Well, the loft was okay, but the bath situation was very strange, it was like 1 bathroom split in half with a shower in-between the toilet rooms, so that meant when someone was showering, you couldn't use the bathroom...just a wierd set up. The kitchen was okay. Not organized & lacking things like a mixing bowl & steak knives. The dining area was my favorite. Very comfortable with a view of the ocean. The living room had a beautiful view, and the deck was nice. Someone needs to trim the hedges for a better view though. There was only 1 way to get to the beach, and that was to walk about 1/2 mile down the road & the highway and through the state park. No beach access from the back of the house, which it looked like it had a one time...too bad it wasn't there anymore, because getting to the beach was a pain. We did have a great time at the house. I have rented many beach vacation homes in the past, and I thought this one to be way to expensive for what it was. Oh, and the CD player didn't work, it skips ALL CDs, so we couldn't play any music on New Years :( This house has mega potential, just needs updated & cleaned. |

Outstanding management company staff Richard J. from Sacramento, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in December, 2011 Everything was outstanding - I wish the the frying pans were in better shape, but people don't take care of them so I would not put new pans in the house. We bring a few pans because we know most rental properties will not have good frying pans. Having said that this house is the best we have found since the Windjammer was red tagged. The management company staff was very responsive - outstanding. |

Beautiful when the sun shines A guest from South Hadley, MA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2011 We enjoyed our stay very much. However, out of 5 days, 4 of them we were encased in fog (the locals say the best time to visit is October). The beach near the cottage is beautiful, but very dangerous, no swimming allowed. The cottage was clean, but it needs major updating. The pictures make the cottage look isolated, but there are cottages right next door and across the street. However, the landscaping provides for a great deal of privacy. |

Amazing views and location! A guest from Chanhassen, MN recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in August, 2011 Sitting in the hot tub watching the ocean was heavenly. The view is absolutely breathtaking. There were tons of puzzles, games and books available - a better selection by far than most rental places. Loved the binder that was chock-full of info on policies, how to operate things, and suggestions for things to do and where to eat. Only a few drawbacks - it was somewhat dusty and the photos seem to be older as there is some wear and tear and fading and the beautiful garden needed some tending. The bed in the master slopes toward the head - could be the floor? |

Happiness at Cliff Cottage Nancy T. from Valley Forge, PA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in June, 2011 The cottage was gorgeous, not to mention the views. Cookwear was a little old with grungy pans, but otherwise, had everything we needed. Unfortunately for us, we were socked in with fog and rain for 3 days, so all of the beachcombing, hiking and exploring we had planned was not possible. The cottage was a little further out of town than we expected. Lucky for us that we had such a lovely cottage to while away the hours! Loved having the fireplace. Oh, did not realize going in that we would not have access to WiFi or cell signal, and had to go into town to YOUR office to get a WiFi signal - thank you for that! |

Our family loves getting away to Cliff Cottage...a truely relaxing and beautiful place to relax and enjoy the ocean. Paul J. from Fair Oaks, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in May, 2011 We were a little dissappointed that the garden and entryway was very dirty and that there were no chair cusions for the outdoor furniture (three chair pads were eventually found in the closet). Also there was no supply of wood for the fireplace and most of the windows needed to be cleaned. At the price of this rental, I think there should be more care to these details. |

Great retreat! A guest from Modesto, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in April, 2011 The location is great and overlooks a beautiful beach. The privacy afforded by the hedges on each side of the cottage make it feel like there are not other cottages on either side. Saw wales passing by between 8-10am each morning. One note for travelers with children (though we didnt' bring any). The beach below the cabin is very dangerous and you are not allowed to enter the water. There are, however, other safe beaches a few minutes drive away. The fireplace, steam sauna, were a plus. The only condition problem we had is a ant problem in the kitchen. |

Beach Access Rob S. from Rancho Murieta, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2011 The beach access was a little confusing. The access we found two houses down involved walking through someone's yard, climbing a split rail fence, and climbing down a hill side. This seemed odd and we did not go that way. In the other direction, the beach access involved leaving the community, walking along a very narrow section of Highway 1 in which there was no room for pedestrians until we got to the beach park. We were not sure if there was another access we should have tried. I would advise anyone staying here to drive instead of walking on that particular stretch of Highway 1. It would be too scary if cars were coming from both directions. It probably would not be hard to cut a by-pass trail. My daughter would not walk through the iceplant after we saw a snake crawl in there. The house itself is very cute. Spectacular views. It was a very nice get-away. |

Great location! A guest from San Francisco, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2011 We stayed in this house for 3 nights with our 5 year old was the perfect size for us and a great base for exploring both north and south. The only issue we had was ants in the kitchen, and we were very careful about leaving any food out. Stayed for 3 days in April, 2011 The only glitch we had was that they had somehow erased my reservation from the computer in the office and I had not printed out the conformation as I usually do. It worked out but we would have been VERY unhappy if Cliff Cottage had not been available as I had already paid in full, and we always request this rental. Wonderful home - in need of some TLC Brian K. from St. Albert, Alberta recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in October, 2010 The house is a fabulous and well-constructed facility. It is in a great location and offers a wonderful view of the ocean. We were very comfortable and found the cotttage very spacious and relaxing. However, it is also true that we found it in need of some basic maintenance e.g. painting in kitchen; window openings; bathroom sinks needing fixing; outside lights needing light bulbs;little or no dishwashing liquid; no repklacement garbage bags;and culinary amenities needing upgrade. A little attention to these details and some cleaning of the exterior would have greatly enhanced our experience. Brian |

Sweet Cottage Perfect for a Gals Reunion A guest from Sacramento, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in August, 2010 The four of us (50-something women from both coasts) chose this house for our reunion. It was idyllic! We especially enjoyed oooking our dinners in the kitchen, which opened to the livingroom and dining room and overlooked the ocean. Sleeping quarters are best suited to folks who don't require lots of separation/privacy since the loft doesn't have a door, but for good friends it's perfect. The bathroom and kitchen fixtures are dated but in good working order, and don't detract from the overall positive vibes this place exudes. You feel like there aren't any people around, even though the house is on a bluff with about 20 other houses. It's a quiet but hip area and the perfect location for exploring nearby hamlets. I highly recommend it. |

Nice 4th of July weekend A guest from Orinda, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 2 days in July, 2010 Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this cottage, saw the resident fox, but had two odd things happen. First, there was no hot water, which we did notknow until the evening. Happily we resolved that with help of the property management folks. We also found a sock in the master bed .. yes, someone else's sock IN the bed, between the sheets, toward the foot of the bed, suggesting that the sheets had NOT been changed since the last person slept there. We changed beds, but ... E Property Manager Response: Response from Bodega Bay Escapes The linens are washed. What happens from time to time is when the guests strip the beds upon departure and pile them all up, the housekeepers bag the linens up to laundered, a sock or shirt or something is mixed in, and for whatever reason never makes it out, is washed and dryed, and with the static electricty sticks somehow and goes undetected, our apologies. |

The kitchen was very well equiped but is missing a much needed cookie sheet to bake on. These are only minor issues We loved the place and definitely will be back soon (reservations again in three months). I think I left my heart there! |

Still a beautiful view, but no longer beautifully maintained A guest from Fair Oaks, California recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in June, 2010 I understand how costly home maintenance must be, but I hope on my next yearly visit to this lovely get-away to at least have the ocean view windows washed and have the gardens and home exterior cleaned and tidy. |

Awesome ocean front cottage Carla R. from Seattle, WA recommends this property. Stayed for 4 days in March, 2010 This cottage is cute from head to toe. The living room has windows which wrap wall to wall which bring the ocean in. The Kitchen is large, well equiped and shares the ocean view. A serene place to take a brake. |

Stayed for 3 days in March, 2010 Wonderful ocean views from the house and deck, however you can't just walk onto the beach--there's a cliff. So it's a short walk around to the sand. But that was not a problem. We loved it. Plenty of room for 2 couples and a 3 year old. |

Cliff Avenue > Beachfront Winter Retreat Patrick L. from Napa, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 7 days in February, 2010 Great house and a great beachfront location. Very comfortable, well decorated and a great size for the two of us. Everything seemed to be in working order, including the fireplace for those cold/foggy/rainy days. Not much wood on hand but we found it available nearby. Thanks again for your help Pam. Might suggest a hot tub upgrade to the owners in the near future. Ants seemed plentiful at times but glad bags seemed to do the trick. Looking forward to future stays... |

Home away from home Dick S. from Sacramento, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 20 days in November, 2009 I've been vacationing on the Sonoma & Mendocino coasts since the early 70s and for the past dozen years Cliff Cottage has become our primary retreat. It's a home-away-from-home combining the comfort and conveniences of modern living with the sense of total escape from everyday life. House design takes full advantage of the ocean view whether in the hot tub or the kitchen. Working fireplace, shower that doubles as a sauna and full ocean side deck with glassed in barbeque setup. Owner and property management keep the place very clean and fully functioning and are very responsive. If you were to read the guest book - you would be impressed with the many repeat vacationers from around the world who enjoy Cliff Cottage as much as we do. |

It's all good! A guest from Berlin, Germany recommends this property. Stayed for 6 days in October, 2009 Beautiful house and location. The only reason we gave 4 starts for general condition was because of missing screens on many of the windows and also some of the windows were unable to open, because the turn openers were broken. It is a little thing compared to the stunning beauty of the location. It is a perfect place for relaxing and being in nature. I did not mind not having cell phone service, but admit that I would have liked to have wireless internet access. Again, such a minor detail. I hope to return someday to Cliff Cottage! |

General comments Drennon & Madeline S. from Fairview, TX recommends this property. Stayed for 13 days in September, 2009 Since cell phone reception is zero at Cliff Cottage an answering machine on the land line would be good. There was one last year. Garbage was never collected during our 2 week stay & some had to be placed outside the containers. A greater choice on TV would be good. Couldn't even get CNN!! Bird droppings on the front porch (but we were told the reason why & agreed the little birds should not be disturbed). This is our 4th year at Cliff Cottage, so we're pretty tolerant about minor miscues. Hope these suggestions help us & future vacationers. Great cottage!! |

Beautiful Cottage, Ever Changing View of the Ocean, And Barn Swallows A guest from Mountain View, CA recommends this property. Stayed for 3 days in August, 2009 We stayed at Cliff Cottage for three nights and enjoyed it very much. The cottage is very charming, spacious and comfortable. The layout of the house is remarkable: kitchen, dining and living spaces and the deck are nicely integrated with each other and all provide full ocean/sunset view. The house is on the beach side of the highway and secluded from traffic. Kids loved watching hummingbirds, hawks, sea gulls, ... from the deck. They named two cute barn swallow chicks who were in a nest just outside the side door, and watched them every day being fed by the parents taking turns. The beach is in walking distance. However, the short cut is through the ranger's house at the end of the block where you need to climb over a fence (not for older folks). The longer path is a few minutes of walk, part of which by the HWY (kids need supervision especially on weekends with heavy traffic). Many other beaches are a short drive away. There is a horse ranch on the way to the town of Bodega Bay that offers rides ob the beach. My kids had their first horse rides. All in all highly recommend this cottage. |
