Located in the peaceful White Forest area of Moonshine Crescent, the 'Scratching Post' forms part of a luxury duplex with a garage for 2 cars and 3 off street parking spaces. The snow cats groom the ski back directly across the road from the chalet, which leads to the Village Way run down to Happy Valley and the gondola. The village centre is a short 10 minute walk up the ski run. Once inside the property you are captivated by the solid wood posts and accents, which make this chalet a light, airy place to relax in after a hard day on the slopes. From the entrance hall to the right is a Games Room and bedroom, featuring 2 sets of bunk beds, a Foosball table, a pool table, a poker table, a 42" plasma TV with DVD player, plus ample seating. Large picture windows make this entertainment room nice and light and offer views of the ski access and chalets in the same crescent. Also on this underfloor-heated entrance level is a convenient boot drying room, shared bathroom with shower over tub and wash basin, plus a further double bedroom. Access to the heated garage is on this level, offering a Power Gym and Ping Pong Table, which can be folded up to make room for a 2nd car in the garage.

A beautiful staircase with chunky 'tree trunk' posts leads you up to the open plan living, dining, and kitchen area, in addition to further bedrooms. As you reach the first level you are immediately captivated by the feeling of space and the amount of light streaming in, enhanced by the high vaulted ceilings and extensive light wood that creates the ambiance of the chalet. A stunning fully equipped, underfloor-heated kitchen is just waiting for the 'chef of the group' to enter and prepare dinner! All cupboards are made of pine and are complemented by the dark granite counter tops and stainless steel appliances. There is a large fridge with integrated chilled water dispenser, ice-maker and freezer drawer below. From the kitchen is the dining area, enjoying far reaching views over the mountains to the side, and offering a solid wooden dining table which can be expanded to seat 12. (There are 8 wooden chairs at the table and an extra 4 foldaway chairs if required.) Directly in front of the kitchen area is the lounge, another wonderful area to relax in after a day on the slopes, offering comfy sofas around a feature fire place and unobstructed views from the front of snow-covered pine trees (so-called 'tree ghosts'), the gondola, ski access and distant mountains. A doorway from the living room leads onto a long deck containing an 8 person hot tub,BBQ and the same magnificent views. A hallway, offering additional access to the hot tub, leads down to two further bedrooms, one with a queen bed with views to the rear and the second with a king bed, walk-in closet, and doors leading to a private deck. Guests have a shared bathroom on this floor complete with wash basin and shower over tub.

Another set of beautiful stairs take you up to the second floor where you will find a double sofa bed, 50" plasma TV and DVD player (plus a choice of DVDs!), along with a home entertainment system and further seating. The chalet offers cable TV, free wireless internet and free local calls. Double doors lead into the spectacular master bedroom. The chunky wooden king bed has been hand crafted, in keeping with the chalet's wood accents, and displays artistically-designed bear claw scratches, as does much of the wooden furniture throughout the chalet. The bedroom has a feature gas fire with stone surround, a huge walk in closet with double sofa bed, and an en-suite bathroom with large steam shower, separate tub, and double wash basins.

Scratching Post Christmas 2010 Reviewed by: A guest recommends this property. Stayed for 5 days in December, 2010 Oven door micro switch did not work. Looks like someone initiated the self clean function which only melts the electric circuits and switches. Don't do that. Had to jury rig it with a paper clip. One of the kitchen windows was broken, one of the chairs fell apart hurting the person sitting on it. The fireplace thermostat did not work. The downstairs bedroom in floor heating solenoid was broken. Informed rental manager but they did not come. If we did not turn the fireplace on and off manually and if we did not get the oven working, we would have complained more.
