The location is quiet but nonetheless very central. Stations for both U- and S-Bahn are just 5-10 minutes’walk away (the nearest S-Bahn stations are Bellevue and Tiergarten; nearest U-Bahn station is Hansaplatz) with direct connections to both the eastern and western central areas. The main railway station and the western city centre are just one stop away by S- or U-Bahn and the eastern central area is also quick to reach (Friedrichstraße, Hackescher Markt and Alexanderplatz stations are 2, 3 and 4 stops away respectively).
There are shops and restaurants in the immediate area. Restaurants Promo and ProbierMahl are just along the street and the friendly neighboring Buchkantine bookshop and cafe (with a range of amazing cakes that changes daily) is right next-door. All have shady outdoor seating in summer.
The relaxing green footpath along the river Spree passes the end of the street. Walking eastwards along it will take you to nearby Bellevue S-Bahn station (main east-west line) and to Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) and Reichstag area.
Starting westwards along the river bank, just 20 minutes’ pleasant walk will take you through Tiergarten park to the zoo.
The western centre of Berlin (including Kurfürstendamm and Tauentzienstraße)is just beyond and there are plenty of pleasant spots (lakes, beer-gardens etc.) in the middle of the park.
