Lakewood Area Lake Getaways

Lakewood Area is a beautiful, quiet area perfect for swimming, boating, and fishing. The area provides a large 18-hole golf course and trails of all sorts. Be it hiking, biking, cross country or ATV these trails are a great way to spend the time while on vacation in the Lakewood Area.

The Lakewood-Laona Ranger District is the southern segment of the Nicolet side of the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. Counties in the Ranger District include Forest, Langlade and Oconto. Areas of special interest to outdoor enthusiasts are the Oconto River, Peshtigo River, Cathedral Pines, and numerous scenic lakes and wetlands including the Waupee Flowage, a joint partnership between Ducks Unlimited and the Forest Service.

The numerous recreation offerings on the District include hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, backpacking, camping, picnicking, swimming, fishing, wildlife viewing, canoeing, nature study, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.
