Middlebury Snow Bowl Ski Getaways
One of two college-owned ski areas in New England, the Snow Bowl sits atop the high pass of Vermont 125 a few miles east of Middlebury College.
Although well known as the home of the College's nationally ranked ski team, the Panthers, the Snow Bowl's proximity to the town of Middlebury and a full set of services makes it a favorite with locals. With terrain for all abilities, challenging glades, a professional ski school, rentals, and a modern snowmaking system, the Snow Bowl has all the essentials of a larger area.
Perched smack dab along the spine of the Green Mountains, the Snow Bowl sees it share of "mountain effect" storms. The snow falls on 110 acres of varied terrain that drops 1,050 vertical feet. Two doubles and a triple provide access. Just less than half the terrain is rated beginner and intermediate; the remainder, including the glades, is for advanced skiers and riders. Trails are cut in the old-fashioned style of New England skiing, so they twist and turn down the mountain's natural contours.
A terrain park on Hadley, served by the Sheehan Double Chair, offers multiple hits and jumps.
The charming college town of Middlebury awaits you at the end of the day.
