Crotched Mountain Ski Getaways

ski getaways

New England's newest ski area had another successful season in 2006-2007. Thanks to 100% fan-gun snowmaking technology, Crotched opens big and opens fast - their goal is to be 100% open before anyone else, if not necessarily the first to open. This aggressive approach to snowmaking and even the technology are reflective of the Midwestern roots of the company that revived the mountain a few years ago. The 875-foot vertical drop and 17 trails are served by two fixed-grip quads, a triple and a double, and a Magic Carpet surface lift for a total of about 75 acres of skiable terrain...and more is on the way.

The wide-open slopes and essentially intermediate nature of the terrain invite big GS turns. Rip down Magnitude or black-diamond Pluto's Plunge arcing from one turn to another and you'll wind up at the bottom with a big smile on your face. Impeccable grooming and a consistent snow surface top-to-bottom means you will rarely be thrown a surprise.

Nervous novices will appreciate the Frosty Kiss Learning Center. A sunny, low-angle meadow is served by a Magic Carpet and is out of the way, but still conveniently located. Experienced beginners will appreciate Super Nova to Comet off the double, or Galaxy on the other edge of the area.

Two terrain parks, Zero-G and Love, offer numerous features. Zero-G is served by its own triple; Love begins just below the shorter quad.

The slopes are lit for night skiing and starting about mid-January you can ski and ride until 3:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
