Thornapple Lake Lake Getaways
Thornapple Lake lies in eastern Barry County, southwestern Michigan. It measures 409 acres in size and up to 30 feet deep. This exciting lake is great for fishing, swimming and watersports.
What's interesting about Thornapple Lake is that it was formed during the Wisconsonian glacial stage (10,000 to 75,000 years ago), which makes it both natural and exquisite. This 345 square-mile watershed contains the Thornapple River, Highbanks Creek, and Mud Creek. Eventually, it leads to Lake Michigan. Hotspots for muskies are on the east end of the lake where the Thornapple River enters. Be warned, however, that it is protected with special regulations that prohibit spearing, no ice-fishing is allowed and there are minimum size limits.
