Ogunquit Beach Getaways
The motto of Ogunquit is "A Beautiful Place by the Sea," and no description of the town is more accurate. Incorporated in 1980, Ogunquit is the third newest town in Maine, though it is one of the state's oldest vacation destinations. For decades visitors have come for the shop-lined streets, trolley rides, Oceanside dining and the pristine, inviting, white sand beach. A particularly beloved activity is walking The Marginal Way, an outstanding footpath which winds along the rock-bound coast and joins the village center to the harbor.
Ogunquit is also home to Perkins Cove, a popular fishing and pleasure boat destination, and the famous Ogunquit Playhouse, a summer stock theater.
