Brunswick is a great destination for those vacationers looking to rent a home in a coastal town rich with historical and cultural attractions.
Located in southeast Georgia, the historic town of Brunswick, Georgia was developed in 1771. It has the second most historical structures of any town in Georgia. One popular Brunswick attraction is the Liberty Ship Memorial Plaza, a plaza commemorating the seven liberty ships constructed by the people of Brunswick during World War II. Also along the coastline you can see the many shrimp boats, and decide for yourself if Brunswick deserves to have back the title it once held as the "Shrimp Capital of the World." Along the streets of Brunswick you will find many art galleries, antique shops, and restaurants. Brunswick prides itself on its mainly annual community events. The Our Lady of Fatima Processional is a procession held on Mother's Day through Hanover Square. Also on Mother's Day is The Blessing of the Fleet, a traditional blessing of the shrimp boats to begin the season. You can enjoy Independence Day by the sea at the Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration at Mary Ross Waterfront Park. There are free fames, free watermelon, and a fireworks display. If you're a chef, you may just want to try to simmer your way into becoming the "Brunswick Stewmaster" at the Brunswick Stewbilee. This stew cook off for amateurs and professionals is held on the second Sunday of October. The 2nd weekend of November brings visitors to Brunswick looking to peruse the booths at the Historic Brunswick Street Fair, an antique and art fair. The residents of Brunswick round out the year with the Brunswick Christmas Parade held on the first Sunday in December. The huge parade moves from across town to from one park to another, and afterwards Santa Claus himself hands out free candy to children. If you're visiting Brunswick for a special occasion, the Brunswick Old City Hall is an excellent location for a banquet or reception.
