Rich in history, Lake Kissimmee was a prominent site during the Seminole War and the Civil War and served as an important early American industrial site. Today, visitors can enjoy the 5,930-acre park through many recreational activities. A living history farm, open weekends and holidays, is a favorite for individuals of all ages. The park has always harbored a large number of plant and animal species and even today the park boasts 50 species of plants and animals that are either threatened or endangered.
