America's Finest City is what they call her, but you really have to take a vacation to San Diego to understand the beauty the city offers. Vacation rentals abound up and down the coast of Southern California, from Oceanside on down to Ocean Beach will get you within driving distance of the S.D., but neglecting to experience the revitalized downtown area is always a mistake. Beginning with the makeover of the Gaslamp District, which now boasts some 100 bars and restaurants and world class shopping, San Diego has re-emerged as a city worthy of a long visit.

There are a few spots that always will be near the top of the list of places to hit up when in San Diego (SeaWorld and the Zoo), but frequent visitors know there is much more. Beyond the Zoo, Balboa Park boasts countless musuems and a beautiful landscape. Just north of the park is the bohemian neighborhood of Hillcrest, which has some of the best restaurants in the San Diego area. And of course, the Gaslamp District, which offers up more places to eat and enjoy an evening out on the town than any vacation could include.
