Madison Getaway Information
The quaint town of Madison is in New Haven County, centrally located along the Connecticut shoreline. The town has long been a popular summer vacation destination, but has also had a steady growth of year round residents in recent years. The town is known for its unique downtown for being the home to the famous bookstore R.J. Julia Booksellers.
There are two state parks in Madison, Cockaponset State Forest and Hammonasset State Park and Beach. Hammomansset State Beach is the longest public beach in Connecticut. Park amenities include a pavilion, picnic areas, concessions, bathhouses, and a fishing jetty. A unique attraction for art lovers is the Sculpture Mile, an outdoor sculpture park. This free attraction is open year round, with guided tours at 11 AM on Saturdays from April to November.
