Inverness Getaway Information

Located on the coast of Marin County in Northern California, Inverness vacation rentals are the perfect way to make your next getaway special. The area was first explored by Judge James Shafter who, being Scottish himself, named the area after a well-known city in Scotland. What started out as a summer town for the area's more permanent residents, Inverness eventually became an impressive, independent city itself when it served as a haven for refugees from the 1906 earthquake. Due to these important historical links, several time-honored activities continue to this day, including swimming lessons at Shell Beach, sailing races in the summer, foot races on July 4th, and the garden club's Primrose Tea.

Inverness has an incredible location. Found on Tomales Bay, Inverness is just a few miles north of Drakes Bay and the Point Reyes National Seashore, and just a few miles south of Bodega Bay. Even more, the entire town is only an hour's drive from the metropolitan and vibrant city of San Francisco. One aspect of Inverness that draws tourists is the fact the city is home to several boatyards, piers, and the Inverness Yacht Club. If you love boating, Inverness will certainly be of interest to you!
