Cape Coral Getaway Information

Founded in 1965, Cape Coral is a true Florida city developed for the purpose of being a waterfront paradise. The southwest Florida town has experienced rapid growth and has a population of over 150,000. Along with the expanding number of citizens, Cape Coral has an ever growing number of activities for visitors to enjoy.

Visitors to sunny Cape Coral will want to spend as much time as possible outdoors, and with many terrific recreational options they'll have no problem finding plenty to do. At Sun Splash Waterpark families can spend the day exploring the 12-acre complex complete with tunnel rides, flume rides, pools, sand volleyball pits, and more. Nature lovers will want to spend a day exploring the Four Mile Cove Ecological Preserve, which is open from 8 AM to sunset everyday of the year. Among other things the park has a nature trail, a boardwalk, and weekend kayak rentals. There is also excellent bird watching of a number of species including osprey, great blue heron, and burrowing owl, a tiny owl unique to the area. Town members take great pride in this special creature, even honoring it with a festival. Throughout the year there are many other festivals and theatrical performances with equally interesting themes.
